2019 Volvo XC40 Fuses and Fuse Box | when Fuse Box blown
Fuses and fuseboxes
Never use a foreign object or a fuse with a higher amperage than that specified to replace a fuse. This could cause significant damage to the electrical system and possibly lead to a fire.

Replacing fuses
All electrical functions and components are protected by a number of fuses in order to protect the vehicle’s electrical system from damage by short-circuiting or overloading.
-
Refer to the fuse diagram to locate the fuse.
-
Pull out the fuse and examine it from the side to determine if the curved metal wire in the fuse is intact.
-
If the wire is broken, replace the fuse with a new fuse of the same colour and amperage.
Never use a foreign object or a fuse with a higher amperage than that specified to replace a fuse. This could cause significant damage to the electrical system and possibly lead to a fire. Contact an authorized Volvo workshop for assistance replacing fuses not listed in the Owner’s Manual. If performed incorrectly, significant damage can be caused to the electrical system.

FAQs
When the fuse box blows, it typically means that one or more fuses have burned out due to overloads or short circuits.
You can check for blown fuses by inspecting the fuse box for any fuses with a broken filament or a discolored appearance.
If you suspect a fuse has blown, the first step is to identify which fuse has failed and is causing the issue.
The fuse box in the XC40 is typically located inside the cabin, often on the driver’s side of the dashboard.
It depends on the affected component. Some electrical systems may not function correctly, but it’s generally safe to drive until you can replace the blown fuse.
Use a fuse puller tool or a pair of needle-nose pliers to gently grasp and remove the blown fuse from its socket.
Replacement fuses are available at most auto parts stores or can be purchased online.
Yes, the XC40 may use various types and sizes of fuses for different electrical circuits. Consult your owner’s manual or the fuse box cover for specific information.
No, always replace a fuse with one of the same amperage rating. Using a higher-rated fuse can cause electrical problems or damage.
Fuses can blow due to overloading a circuit, a short circuit, or a faulty component in the electrical system.
Consult the owner’s manual or fuse box cover for a diagram that identifies the fuses and their functions. Locate the one corresponding to the malfunctioning electrical component.
Always disconnect the vehicle’s battery before working on the fuse box to ensure safety.
If the problem persists after replacing a fuse, it may require further diagnosis by a professional mechanic.
It’s not recommended to replace a fuse with a circuit breaker, as the vehicle’s electrical system is designed for fuses.
You can check for any recalls or known issues related to your vehicle’s fuses by contacting a Volvo dealership or checking the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) website.
