Electrical System
Electrical System Overload
The vehicle has fuses and circuit breakers to protect against an electrical system overload.
When the current electrical load is too heavy, the circuit breaker opens and closes, protecting the circuit until the current load returns to normal or the problem is fixed. This greatly reduces the chance of circuit overload and fire caused by electrical problems.
Fuses and circuit breakers protect power devices in the vehicle.
Replace a bad fuse with a new one of the identical size and rating.
If there is a problem on the road and a fuse needs to be replaced, the same amperage fuse can be borrowed. Choose some feature of the vehicle that is not needed to use and replace it as soon as possible.
Headlamp Wiring
An electrical overload may cause the lamps to go on and off, or in some cases to remain off. Have the headlamp wiring checked right away if the lamps go on and off or remain off?
Windshield Wipers
If the wiper motor overheats due to heavy snow or ice, the windshield wipers will stop until the motor cools and will then restart.
Although the circuit is protected from electrical overload, overload due to heavy snow or ice may cause wiper linkage damage. Always clear ice and heavy snow from the windshield before using the windshield wipers.
If the overload is caused by an electrical problem and not snow or ice, be sure to get it fixed.
Fuses and Circuit Breakers
The wiring circuits in the vehicle are protected from short circuits by a combination of fuses and circuit breakers. This greatly reduces the chance of damage caused by electrical problems.
Danger
Fuses and circuit breakers are marked with their ampere rating. Do not exceed the specified amperage rating when replacing fuses and circuit breakers. The use of an oversized fuse or circuit breaker can result in a vehicle fire. You and others could be seriously injured or killed.
To check a fuse, look at the silver-colored band inside the fuse. If the band is broken or melted, replace the fuse. Be sure to replace a bad fuse with a new one of the identical size and rating.
Fuses of the same amperage can be temporarily borrowed from another fuse location if a fuse goes out. Replace the fuse as soon as possible.
Engine Compartment Fuse Block
The underhood fuse block is in the engine compartment, on the driver’s side of the vehicle.
Caution
Do not pull the engine compartment fuse block lever, since it is intended only for service purposes. If pulled, vehicle malfunction may occur.
Caution
Spilling liquid on any electrical component of the vehicle may damage it. Always keep the covers on any electrical component.
To remove the fuse block cover, press the clips on the cover and lift it straight up.
The vehicle may not be equipped with all of the fuses, relays, and features shown.

FAQs
The fuse box in a 2019 Cadillac XT4 is typically located in the interior of the vehicle, often on the driver’s side dashboard or in the footwell area.
A fuse box houses the fuses that protect various electrical components in the vehicle by breaking the circuit when there is an electrical overload or short circuit.
To access the fuse box in a 2019 Cadillac XT4, you may need to remove a cover panel located either under the dashboard or in the footwell area.
Typically, you’ll only need a pair of needle-nose pliers or a fuse puller tool, both of which may come with your vehicle’s fuse box.
The 2019 Cadillac XT4 may use standard blade-type fuses, and it’s important to replace them with the correct amperage rating.
If a fuse has blown, it will have a broken filament inside. You can visually inspect each fuse or use a multimeter to check for continuity.
Fuse box diagrams are often included in the owner’s manual of the vehicle. If you don’t have the manual, you can also find diagrams online or consult a dealership.
The fuse box diagram will typically have a list of components and their corresponding fuse numbers or locations.
You can typically replace a fuse yourself. It’s a straightforward process that doesn’t usually require professional assistance.
It’s essential to ensure the vehicle is turned off and the corresponding circuit is not under load before replacing a fuse to avoid electrical hazards.
If a fuse blows again immediately after replacement, it could indicate an underlying electrical issue that requires further investigation by a professional.
Fuses typically don’t need to be replaced regularly unless there’s an electrical issue. However, if a fuse does blow, it should be replaced promptly.
No, using a higher amperage fuse can pose a fire hazard and damage the electrical system. Always replace fuses with the correct amperage rating.
The procedure for replacing fuses is generally straightforward: locate the blown fuse, remove it using a fuse puller or pliers, and install the new fuse of the correct amperage.
Common electrical issues that may require fuse replacement in a 2019 Cadillac XT4 include problems with the power windows, interior lights, or audio system.
