FUSES
A vehicle’s electrical system is protected from electrical overload damage by fuses. This vehicle has 2 fuse panels, one located in the driver’s side panel bolster, the other in the engine compartment near the battery. If any of your vehicle’s lights, accessories, or controls do not work, check the appropriate circuit fuse. If a fuse has blown, the element inside the fuse will be melted. If the electrical system does not work, first check the driver’s side fuse panel. Always replace a blown fuse with one of the same rating. Before replacing an open fuse, disconnect the negative battery cable. If the replacement fuse blows, this indicates an electrical problem. Avoid using the system involved and immediately consult an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
Three kinds of fuses are used: blade type for lower amperage rating, cartridge type, and multi fuse for higher amperage ratings.
WARNING – Fuse replacement
- Never replace a fuse with anything but another fuse of the same rating.
- A higher capacity fuse could cause damage and possibly a fire.
- Never install a wire or aluminium foil instead of the proper fuse – even as a temporary repair. It may cause extensive wiring damage and a possible fire.
CAUTION
Do not use a screwdriver or any other metal object to remove fuses because it may cause a short circuit and damage the system.
NOTICE
The actual fuse/relay panel label may differ from the equipped items.
CAUTION
- When replacing an open fuse or relay with a new one, make sure the new fuse or relay fits tightly into the clips. The incomplete fastening fuse or relay may cause the vehicle wiring and electric systems damage and a possible fire.
- Do not remove fuses, relays and terminals fastened with bolts or nuts. The fuses, relays and terminals may be fastened incompletely, and it may cause a possible fire. If fuses, relays and terminals fastened with bolts or nuts are open, consult with an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
- Do not input any other objects except fuses or relays into fuse/relay terminals such as a driver or wiring. It may cause contact failure and system malfunction.
Inner panel fuse replacement
- Turn the ignition switch and all other switches off.
- Open the fuse panel cover.
- Pull the suspected fuse straight out. Use the removal tool provided in the engine compartment fuse panel.
- Check the removed fuse; replace it if it is blown.
- Push in a new fuse of the same rating, and make sure it fits tightly in the clips.
If it fits loosely, consult an authorized HYUNDAI dealer. If you do not have a spare, use a fuse of the same rating from a circuit you may not need for operating the vehicle, such as the cigar lighter fuse. If the headlights or other electrical components do not work and the fuses are OK, check the fuse block in the engine compartment. If a fuse is blown, it must be replaced.
Fuse switch
Always, put the mode switch at the ON position. If you move the switch to the OFF position, some items such as audio and digital clock must be reset and the transmitter (or smart key) may not work properly.
CAUTION
Always place the fuse switch in the ON position while driving the vehicle.
Engine compartment panel fuse replacement
- Turn the ignition switch and all other switches off.
- Remove the fuse box cover by pressing the tab and pulling up.
- Check the removed fuse; replace it if it is blown. To remove or insert the fuse, use the fuse puller in the engine compartment fuse panel.
- Push in a new fuse of the same rating, and make sure it fits tightly in the clips. If it fits loosely, consult an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
CAUTION
After checking the fuse box in the engine compartment, securely install the fuse box cover. If not, electrical failures may occur from water leaking in.
Multi fuse
If the multi fuse is blown, it must be removed as follows:
- Disconnect the negative battery cable.
- Remove the bolts shown in the picture above.
- Replace the fuse with a new one of the same rating.
- Reinstall in the reverse order of removal.
NOTICE
If the multi fuse is blown, consult an Authorized HYUNDAI Dealer.
Main fuse
If the main fuse is blown, it must be removed as follows:
- Disconnect the negative battery cable.
- Remove the nuts shown in the picture above.
- Replace the fuse with a new one of the same rating.
- Reinstall in the reverse order of removal.
Fuse/Relay panel description
Inside the fuse/relay box covers, you can find the fuse/relay label describing fuse/relay name and capacity.✽ NOTICE
Not all fuse panel descriptions in this manual may be applicable to your vehicle. It is accurate at the time of printing. When you inspect the fuse box on your vehicle, refer to the fuse box label.

FAQs
The fuse box in the 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe houses fuses that protect various electrical components by preventing damage from electrical overloads or faults.
The fuse box in the 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe is typically located in the engine compartment or the interior of the vehicle.
A blown fuse can be identified by a visibly broken wire or a discoloured appearance. You can also use a multimeter to check for continuity.
Common signs include non-functioning electrical components, such as lights, power windows, or the radio.
The fuse box diagram is often located on the inside of the fuse box cover. It provides information about the location and amperage of each fuse.
Regularly inspect your fuses during routine maintenance checks, or whenever you experience electrical issues in the vehicle.
No, it is not recommended. Always replace fuses with the specified amperage to prevent damage to the electrical system.
Yes, the Hyundai Santa Fe may use blade-type fuses or mini-blade fuses.
You can often find the information online or consult a Hyundai dealership for a copy of the fuse box diagram.
Many fuse replacements can be done by car owners. However, if you’re unsure or uncomfortable, it’s advisable to seek professional assistance.
Typically, all you need is a fuse puller or a pair of pliers to remove the blown fuse and a replacement fuse of the correct amperage.
While there’s no strict order, it’s good practice to replace fuses one at a time to avoid confusion.
Yes, a fuse can develop partial damage, leading to intermittent electrical problems. It’s essential to thoroughly inspect each fuse.
Ensure the vehicle is turned off, and if uncertain, seek professional assistance to avoid electrical hazards.
Check with the manufacturer or a Hyundai dealership for any recalls or common issues related to fuses in your specific model year.
