Instrument Cluster: 2020 Vauxhall Crossland Warning Symbols Guide
A lot of different symbols and signs are used in the 2020 Vauxhall Crossland’s instrument cluster to give drivers important information and warnings. The instrument cluster is the main part of the car’s monitoring system and gives information about many facets of its status and performance. These warning signs are very important for drivers because they let them know about possible problems or actions that need to be taken. Each sign is very important for making sure the vehicle is safe and runs well. For example, a low fuel light or a problem with the engine or tires can be shown by these symbols. Warning lights, gauges, and indicators

Speedometer
Indicates vehicle speed.
Odometer
The total recorded distance is displayed in miles.
Trip odometer
The recorded distance since the last reset is displayed in the Driver Information Centre.
Monochrome display
The trip odometer counts up to 9,999.9 miles without automatic reset.
Press L for 2 seconds to reset the trip odometer.
Color display
The trip odometer counts up to 1,999.9 miles and resets them automatically. Press L for 2 seconds to reset the trip odometer. The trip/fuel information menu provides additional two trip counters 3 89.
Tachometer
Displays the engine speed.
Drive in a low engine speed range for each gear as much as possible.
A red marker indicates the beginning of the warning zone of excessive revolutions. For Diesel engines, the warning zone starts at 5000 revolutions per minute. For petrol engines, the warning zone starts at 7000 revolutions per minute.
Caution
If the needle is in the red warning zone, the maximum permitted engine speed is exceeded. Engine at risk.
Fuel gauge
Displays the fuel level in the tank.
The control indicator o illuminates if the level in the tank is low.
Never run the fuel tank dry.
Because of the fuel remaining in the tank, the top-up quantity may be less than the specified fuel tank capacity.
Engine coolant temperature gauge
Displays the coolant temperature.
50: engine operating temperature not yet reached
90: normal operating temperature
130: temperature too high
The control indicator o illuminates if the engine coolant temperature is too high.
Caution
If the engine coolant temperature is too high, stop the vehicle, and switch off the engine. Danger to engine. Check the coolant level.
Engine oil level monitor
The state of the engine oil level is displayed in the Driver Information Centre for a few seconds following the service information after switching on the ignition.
A proper state of engine oil level is indicated by the message Oil level correct.
If the engine oil level is low, I flashes and the Oil level incorrect is indicated, accompanied by the C indicator. Confirm engine oil level by using the dipstick and top-up engine oil respectively.
Engine oil
A fault of measurement is indicated by the message Oil level measurement invalid. Check the engine oil level manually by using the dipstick.
Service display
The service system informs when to change the engine oil and filter or a vehicle service is required. Based on driving conditions, the interval at which an engine oil and filter change is required can vary considerably.
Service information 3 218.
A required service is displayed in the Driver Information Centre for 7 seconds after switching on the ignition. If no service is required for the next 1800 miles or more no service information appears in the display.
If service is required within the next 1800 miles, the remaining distance or time duration is indicated for several seconds. Simultaneously C illuminates permanently as a reminder.
If service is required in less than 600 miles, C flashes and then illuminates permanently. The remaining distance or time duration is indicated for several seconds.
Overdued service is indicated by a message in the Driver Information Centre which indicates the overdued distance. C flashes and then illuminates permanently until service is executed.
Reset of service interval
After each service, the service indicator must be reset to ensure proper functionality. It is recommended to seek the assistance of a workshop.
Operate as follows:
- switch off ignition
- Press and hold button M or CHECK
- switch on the ignition, and the distance indication begins a countdown
- when the display indicates =0, release the button
The C disappears.
Retrieving service information
To retrieve the status of the service information at any time press the left button underneath the Driver Information Centre.

Control indicators
The control indicators described are not present in all vehicles. The description applies to all instrument versions. Depending on the equipment, the position of the control indicators may vary. When the ignition is switched on, most control indicators will illuminate briefly as a functionality test.
The control indicator colors mean:
- red: danger, important reminder
- yellow: warning, information, fault
- green: confirmation of activation
- blue: confirmation of activation
- white: confirmation of activation
- grey: system paused, at least one system limitation has been detected

The numbers in the overview table indicate what to do when a control indicator illuminates or flashes.

Turn lightsflashes green.
Illuminates briefly
The parking lights are switched on.
Flashes
A turn light or the hazard warning flashers are activated. Rapid flashing: failure of a turn light or associated fuse.
This includes turn lights connected to the socket of the towing equipment. Bulb replacement 3 240. Fuses 3 248. Turn lights 3 91.
Seat belt reminderilluminates or flashes red in the instrument cluster together with the indication in the overhead console for each seat belt.
- When the ignition is switched on, X in the instrument cluster and the symbol for the respective seat in the overhead console comes on, if the seat belt of any occupied seat has not been fastened.
- After driving off, the X in the instrument cluster and the symbol for the respective seat in the overhead console flash for a certain time together with a chime. After a certain time of driving X illuminates constantly until the seat belt of the respective seat has been fastened or if any passenger has unfastened the seat belt.
Airbag and belt tensionersilluminates red.
When the ignition is switched on, the control indicator illuminates for approx. four seconds. If it does not illuminate, does not go out after four seconds, or illuminates whilst driving, there is a fault in the airbag system. Seek the assistance of a workshop. The airbags and belt pretensioners may fail to trigger in the event of an accident.
Warning
Have the cause of the fault remedied immediately by a workshop.

Airbag deactivation
ON illuminates yellow. The front passenger airbag is activated.
*OFF illuminates yellow. The front passenger airbag is deactivated.

The charging systemilluminates red.
Illuminates when the ignition is switched on and extinguishes shortly after the engine starts.
Illuminates when the engine is running
Stop, and switch off the engine. The vehicle battery is not charging. Engine cooling may be interrupted. The brake servo unit may cease to be effective. Seek the assistance of a workshop.
The malfunction indicator lightilluminates or flashes yellow.
Illuminates when the ignition is switched on and extinguishes shortly after the engine starts.
Illuminates when the engine is running
Fault in the emission control system. The permitted emission limits may be exceeded. Seek the assistance of a workshop immediately.
Flashes when the engine is running
The engine management system has a fault that could lead to catalytic converter damage. Ease up on the accelerator until the flashing stops. Seek the assistance of a workshop immediately.

May illuminate together with other control indicators and a corresponding message in the Driver Information Centre.

Stop engine
STOP illuminates red.

System checkilluminates yellow or red.
Illuminates yellow
A minor engine fault has been detected.
Illuminates red
A major engine fault has been detected. Stop the engine as soon as possible and seek the assistance of a workshop.
The brake and clutch systemilluminates red. The brake and clutch fluid levels are too low.
Warning
Stop. Do not continue your journey. Consult a workshop.
Brake fluid.
Parking brakeilluminates or flashes red.
Illuminates when the parking brake is applied and ignition is switched on.
Antilock brake system (ABS)illuminates yellow.
Illuminates for a few seconds after the ignition is switched on. The system is ready for operation when the control indicator is extinguished.
If the control indicator does not extinguish after a few seconds, or if it illuminates while driving, there is a fault in the ABS. The brake system remains operational but without ABS regulation.
Antilock brake system 3 187.
Gear shifting
Manual transmissionwith the number of higher gears indicated when upshifting into this gear is recommended for fuel-saving reasons.
Automatic transmission manual modeis indicated when upshifting is recommended for fuel-saving reasons.
The descent control systemilluminates or flashes green.
Illuminates green
The system is switched on and ready to operate.
Flashes green
The system is in operation.
The lane departure warningflashes yellow when the system recognizes an unintended lane change.

The Electronic Stability Control and Traction Control systemilluminates or flashes yellow.
Illuminates
A fault in the system is present. Continued driving is possible. Driving stability, however, may deteriorate depending on road surface conditions. Have the cause of the fault remedied by a workshop.
Flashes
The system is actively engaged. Engine output may be reduced and the vehicle may be braked automatically to a small degree.

The Electronic Stability Control and Traction Control system illuminates yellow.
The systems are deactivated.
Engine coolant temperatureilluminates red.
Illuminates when the engine is running Stop, and switch off the engine.
Caution
The coolant temperature is too high.
Check the coolant level immediately. If there is sufficient coolant, consult a workshop.
Preheatingilluminates yellow.
Preheating of the diesel engine is activated. Only activates when the outside temperature is low. Start the engine when the control indicator extinguishes. Starting the engine 3 174.
The exhaust filterilluminates yellow.
The exhaust filter requires cleaning.
Continue driving until the control indicator extinguishes.
Illuminates temporarily
Start of saturation of the exhaust filter. Start the cleaning process as soon as possible by driving at a vehicle speed of at least 40 mph.
Illuminates constantly
Indication of a low additive level. Seek the assistance of a workshop.
Exhaust filter.
AdBlueflashes or illuminates yellow.
Illuminates yellow
The remaining driving range is between 370 miles and 1500 miles.
Flashes yellow
The remaining driving range is between 0 and 370 miles.
The adBlue level is low. Refill AdBlue soon to avoid prevention of the engine start.
The deflation detection systemilluminates or flashes yellow.
Illuminates
Tire pressure loss in one or more wheels. Stop immediately and check the tire pressure.
Flashes
Fault in the system. Consult a workshop. Deflation detection system.
Engine oil pressureilluminates red.
Illuminates when the ignition is switched on and extinguishes shortly after the engine starts.
Illuminates when the engine is running
Caution
Engine lubrication may be interrupted. This may result in damage to the engine and/or locking of the drive wheels.
- Select neutral gear.
- Move out of the flow of traffic as quickly as possible without impeding other vehicles.
- Switch off the ignition.
Warning
When the engine is off, considerably more force is needed to brake and steer. During an Autostop the brake servo unit will still be operational. Do not remove the key until the vehicle is stationary, otherwise, the steering wheel lock could, depending on the version, engage unexpectedly.
Keep the engine turned off and let the vehicle be towed to a workshop.
Low fuelilluminates yellow. The level in the fuel tank is too low. Refueling. Bleeding the diesel fuel system.
Autostopilluminates or flashes green.
Illuminates green
The engine is in an Autostop.
Flashes green
Autostop is temporarily unavailable, or Autostop mode is invoked automatically. Stop-start system.
Exterior lightilluminates green. The exterior lights are on.
Low beamilluminates green. Illuminated when low beam is on.
The high beamilluminates blue.
Illuminates, when high beam is on or during headlight, flash.
High beam assistilluminates green. The high beam assist is activated.
Front fog lightsilluminate green. The front fog lights are on.
Rear fog lightilluminates yellow. The rear fog light is on.
The rain sensorilluminates green.
Illuminated when automatic wiping with rain sensor is activated. Windscreen wiper and washer.
Cruise controlilluminates in the Driver Information Centre.
Cruise control.
The side blind spot alertilluminates green. The system is active.
Active emergency brakingilluminates or flashes yellow.
Illuminates
The system has been deactivated or a fault has been detected.
Additionally, a warning message is displayed in the Driver Information Centre.
Check the reason for the deactivation 3 199 and in case of a system fault, seek the assistance of a workshop.
Notice
m also illuminates if the seat belts of the front passengers are not fastened. In this case, active emergency braking is deactivated.
Flashes
The system is actively engaged. Depending on the situation, the vehicle may automatically brake moderately or hard.
Forward collision alert 3 197. Front pedestrian protection.
Speed limiterilluminates in the Driver Information Centre. Speed limiter.
Door openilluminates red. A door or the tailgate is open.
