Small luxury crossovers are one of the hottest niches in the auto industry right now, and Cadillac hopes to capitalize on this with the 2023 XT4. It features a roomy cabin and a stylish exterior appearance. When compared to competitors like the Audi Q3, BMW X1, and Mercedes-Benz GLA-class, the XT4 appears to be a decent deal because of the abundance of desirable equipment that comes standard. But there are some concessions with the Caddy crossover as well. It isn’t as high-end as those SUVs made by German automakers, with interior material quality more akin to a Chevy than a Cadillac. Compared to others in this emerging class, its upright driving posture gives it a more SUV-like feel while driving, but its 235-hp turbocharged four-cylinder only offers adequate performance. Consider your expectations for the XT4 if the stunning CT4-V Blackwing sports car at the opposite end of the Cadillac showroom has you expecting Olympic athleticism. Even the highest Sport trim lacks thrilling driving experiences. In the end, the XT4 is a roomy, mediocrely furnished, modestly performing compact crossover with a premium appearance.
