2023 Chevrolet Traverse

The family-sized SUV from Chevrolet, the Traverse, has traditionally been better at navigating suburban blacktops than rugged treks, but the three-row crossover has been revamped for 2023 with a focus on capability. It continues to be a roomy choice in the mid-size SUV market and is still available in cost-effective road-going versions, but the portfolio has been bolstered with a more rugged appearance and an off-road-focused Z71 version. On the trails, we don’t anticipate that model to go head-to-head with the Ford Bronco, but its twin-clutch all-wheel-drive system is at least more capable than that found on the Traverse’s other trims. The only available engine is a turbocharged four-cylinder, which is different from V-6-powered competitors like the Honda Pilot, Hyundai Palisade, and Kia Telluride. For 2023, Chevrolet has significantly improved the Traverse’s technological capabilities; all variants now include a sizable touchscreen infotainment system and a number of standard driver assistance features. Even GM’s Super Cruise hands-free driving mode is a possibility, which would give the Traverse the advantage it needs to encroach on the area of its competitors.
