2023 – 2024 Subaru WRX

The WRX has a turbocharged flat-four engine with 271 horsepower that is attached to either a six-speed manual or a continuously variable automatic gearbox. Hard-core WRX fans might not like the CVT, but it’s the fastest way to get to 60 mph. Unlike rivals like the Hyundai Elantra N and Volkswagen GTI, the WRX has all-wheel drive as standard. It hasn’t forgotten where it came from, but it drives more carefully than it used to. Its chassis gives it reliable handling and something like a soft ride over bumps instead of a stiff ride like a race car. But now that the high-performance STI version of the WRX is no longer available in the United States, the Toyota GR Corolla has the biggest brag in town. With the new WRX, Subaru leans more into its history of rally racing. The fifth-generation WRX, which will be redesigned in 2023, will have body cladding like an SUV to protect the paint from nicks and chips. It will also have a bigger, more powerful engine and an available adaptive suspension to improve performance. The car also uses the latest technology from Subaru for entertainment, driving assistance, and avoiding accidents. However, most of the safety measures are only available on WRX models with the optional continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT), which Subaru calls the Performance Transmission.

What’s Coming in 2023?

For 2023, there won’t be any big changes to the Subaru WRX. Subaru tells us that they’ve put head restraints in the back seats for all three seats and made those head restraints bigger to meet safety standards that reduce the risk of whiplash in an accident.
