What’s New for 2024?
Kia has given the non-hybrid trims of the 2024 Sorento a mid-cycle update that mainly changes how they look. The most noticeable changes are the new front grille and taillights. The Sorento also gets new wheel styles and some other small changes. New X-Line and X-Pro trims give the Sorento a more rugged look. The dashboard and navigation system inside have been updated. The hybrid models will stay the same in 2024, but they will get the same styling updates as the 2025 versions.

The brand’s all-around player in this class is the 2024 Kia Sorento. The Telluride and EV9 only come with one engine option. The Sorento, on the other hand, comes with four, two of which are hybrids. For those on a tight budget, there’s a base model with a four-cylinder engine that doesn’t have a turbocharger and front-wheel drive. What’s New for 2024?
For 2024, all Q4 e-tron models come with adaptive cruise control that can centre the car in its lane. The steering wheel of the SUV now has paddle shifters that let you quickly change the amount of regenerative braking. A programmable garage door opener is now standard on Premium Plus and Prestige trims, and it comes with Premium cars that have the Convenience package. Around the middle of the model year, Audi swapped out the Q4 e-tron 50 versions for new 55 models with updated electric motors that are both more powerful and more efficient. The 55 powertrain has a total of 335 horsepower and a range of up to 258 miles, which is 40 horsepower and 22 miles more than the 50 models. Soon, the 55 powertrains will start being made, and they should be in Audi stores in the spring of 2024.

The 2024 Audi Q4 e-tron and Q4 e-tron Sportback both come with a package that helps with range anxiety, but neither is the best in its class in this way. The rear-wheel drive 40 can go up to 265 miles on a single charge, which is far more than most people will need for school and running errands in a day. Hyundai doesn’t make any major changes to the Ioniq 5 for 2024, except for a few small changes to the equipment.

Our EV of the Year award for 2022 went to the Hyundai Ioniq 5. It was different without giving up anything. It still takes great pride in the fact that it is cool-hand boxy and rectangular. In its base form, the 2024 Ioniq 5 is a single-motor rear-drive car with 168 horsepower and a range of 220 miles, according to the EPA. That’s pretty calm. From there, an Ioniq 5 with a larger range and a single motor can drive for about 303 miles. It also comes in a 320-hp all-wheel-drive dual-motor type that can go about 266 miles. Fast 350-kW DC charging is what makes the Ioniq 5 a big star.

VW’s IQ.DRIVE driver-assistance system now comes standard on the base S trim. It has adaptive cruise control and a feature that centres the car in its lane. The SE R-Line and SEL R-Line Black trims get some small changes to how they look.
