Fuses Replacement: 2010 Cadillac CTS Fuse Diagrams Guide
The 2010 Cadillac CTS is a high-end car with two different switch boxes. The first switch box is in the area where the engine is, and the second one is below the trunk. There are pictures in the 2010 Cadillac CTS fuse box that shows where the fuse panels are located inside the car. The pictures also show the different fuses, along with the mini switch numbers, descriptions, and where they are located in the fuse boxes. The air conditioning clutch, antilock braking system (ABS), adaptive forward lighting system (AFS), airbag switch, all-wheel drive (AWD), and sunroof (S/ROOF) fuses are some of the ones that are talked about. The images are necessary to find and replace any fuses in the car that aren’t working right.

Electrical System
Electrical System Overload
The vehicle has fuses and circuit breakers to protect against an electrical system overload.
When the current electrical load is too heavy, the circuit breaker opens and closes, protecting the circuit until the current load returns to normal or the problem is fixed. This greatly reduces the chance of circuit overload and fire caused by electrical problems.
Fuses and circuit breakers protect the following in the vehicle:
- Headlamp Wiring
- Windshield Wiper Motor
- Power Windows and Other Power Accessories
Headlamp Wiring
An electrical overload may cause the lamps to go on and off, or in some cases to remain off. Has the headlamp wiring checked right away if the lamps go on and off or remain off?
Windshield Wipers
If the wiper motor overheats due to heavy snow or ice, the windshield wipers will stop until the motor cools and will then restart.
Although the circuit is protected from electrical overload, overload due to heavy snow or ice may cause wiper linkage damage. Always clear ice and heavy snow from the windshield before using the windshield wipers.
If the overload is caused by an electrical problem and not snow or ice, be sure to get it fixed.
Fuses and Circuit Breakers
The wiring circuits in the vehicle are protected from short circuits by a combination of fuses and circuit breakers. This greatly reduces the chance of damage caused by electrical problems.
To check a fuse, look at the silver-colored band inside the fuse. If the band is broken or melted, replace the fuse. Be sure to replace a bad fuse with a new one of the identical size and rating.
Fuses of the same amperage can be temporarily borrowed from another fuse location if a fuse goes out. Replace the fuse as soon as you can.
To identify and check fuses, circuit breakers, and relays, see Engine Compartment Fuse Block (CTS) on page 9-41 or Engine Compartment Fuse Block (CTS-V) on page 9-44 or Engine Compartment Fuse Block (CTS Wagon) on page 9-47 and Rear Compartment Fuse Block (CTS) on page 9-50 or Rear Compartment Fuse Block (CTS-V) on page 9-52 or Rear Compartment Fuse Block (CTS Wagon) on page 9-54.

The underhood fuse block is located on the passenger side of the engine compartment.
Lift the fuse block cover to access the fuses.
Notice: Spilling liquid on any electrical components on the vehicle may damage it. Always keep the covers on any electrical component.

Materials Needed:
- Replacement fuse(s) – Ensure you have the correct amperage and type of fuse for the circuit you’re replacing.
- Fuse puller tool or needle-nose pliers – This will help you safely remove the blown fuse.
- Flashlight (optional) – Sometimes the fuse box can be located in a dark or hard-to-reach area, so having a flashlight handy can be helpful.
Instructions:
-
Locate the Fuse Box: The fuse box in your 2010 Cadillac CTS is typically located in one of several places, including under the hood, in the trunk, or beneath the dashboard on the driver’s side.
-
Identify the Blown Fuse: Use the diagram printed on the inside of the fuse box cover or consult your owner’s manual to locate the fuse corresponding to the malfunctioning circuit.
-
Turn Off Ignition: Before replacing the fuse, make sure your car’s ignition is turned off to prevent any electrical mishaps.
-
Remove the Blown Fuse: Using either a fuse puller tool or needle-nose pliers, carefully grip the blown fuse and pull it straight out of its socket. Avoid using excessive force to prevent damaging the fuse or the fuse box.
-
Inspect the Fuse: Take a close look at the blown fuse to confirm that it’s indeed damaged. A blown fuse will typically have a visibly broken wire inside, or the metal strip will be discolored.
-
Insert the Replacement Fuse: Take a new fuse of the same amperage rating and carefully insert it into the empty fuse socket. Make sure the fuse is fully seated and fits snugly into place.
-
Test the Circuit: After replacing the fuse, turn the ignition back on and test the circuit to ensure it’s functioning properly. For example, if you replaced a fuse related to the headlights, turn on your headlights to confirm they’re working.
-
Replace Fuse Box Cover: Once you’ve confirmed the circuit is working correctly, replace the fuse box cover and secure it in place.
Tips:
- Use the Right Fuse: Always use a replacement fuse with the same amperage rating as the one you’re replacing. Using a fuse with a different rating can lead to electrical issues or even damage to your vehicle.
- Check for Underlying Issues: If a fuse blows repeatedly, it may indicate an underlying electrical problem. Consider having your vehicle inspected by a professional to diagnose and address any potential issues.
- Keep Spare Fuses Handy: It’s a good idea to keep a variety of spare fuses in your car in case of emergencies. You never know when you might need to replace one on the go.
- Be Patient and Gentle: Take your time when removing and inserting fuses to avoid causing any damage to the fuse box or other components.
FAQs
