The Citron Berlingo is a famous small van or leisure activity vehicle (LAV) made by the French automaker Citron. Even though I don’t know much about the Berlingo for the model years 2021–2023, I can give you an idea of what it’s like based on its earlier generations. The Citron Berlingo is known for being useful, flexible, and having a roomy cabin. It has a lot of room for goods, flexible seating, and a comfortable cabin, so it can be used by both families and businesses. The Berlingo usually has a boxy shape that makes the most of the room inside and makes it easy to load and unload goods or people. In terms of powertrains, the Berlingo is usually available with a range of petrol, diesel and sometimes electric powertrains, based on the market and specific model variant. Most engines are made to have a good mix between performance and how much fuel they use.

Indicator and warning lamps

Visual indicators inform the driver that a system is in operation or is switched off (indicator lamp) or has a fault (warning lamp).

When the ignition is switched on
Certain warning lamps come on for a few seconds in the instrument panel when the vehicle’s ignition is switched on.

When the engine is started, these same warning lamps should go off.
If they remain on, before moving off, refer to the information on the warning lamp concerned.

Warning lamps
When the engine is running or the vehicle is being driven, illumination of one of the following warning lamps indicates a fault that requires action on the part of the driver. Any fault resulting in the illumination of a warning lamp must be investigated further. If you encounter any problems, do not hesitate to contact a CITROËN dealer or a qualified workshop.

Certain warning lamps may come on in one of two modes: fixed (continuous) or flashing. Only by relating the type of illumination to the operation of the vehicle can it be determined whether the situation is normal or a fault has occurred. Refer to the tables in the following pages for more information.

Operation indicator lamps
The illumination of one of the following indicator lamps confirms that the corresponding system has been switched on. It may be accompanied by an audible signal.

Deactivation indicator lamps
If one of the following indicator lamps comes on, this confirms that the corresponding system has been switched off intentionally. This is may be accompanied by an audible signal.

Total/trip distance recorder
When the ignition is switched on, the distance recorder selected when the engine was switched off is displayed.

Press one of the buttons 1 to alternate the distance display:

  • total with “ODO” (odometer) displayed,
  • trip with “TRIP” displayed.

To reset the trip recorder to zero, when it is displayed, press and hold one of the two buttons 1.

Fuel gauge

This indicates the quantity of fuel available:

  • 1/1 and six bars, the fuel tank is full.
  • R and one bar, the fuel tank is on the reserve.

Low fuel level
When the low level in the fuel tank is reached, this warning lamp comes on in the instrument panel, accompanied by an audible signal.

You have approximately 5 liters remaining.
At least 5 liters must be added after running out of fuel.

Trip computer
A system that gives you information on the journey in progress (range, fuel consumption…).

Ambient temperature
In certain situations, the ambient temperature may only be displayed after a delay or not at all, in particular:

  • – when stationary or at low speed (less than about 18 mph (25 km/h),
    – where there is too much variation in temperature (entering or leaving a garage, a tunnel…),
    – during very short journeys (less than about 2 minutes).

Lighting dimmer
When driving at night, this function allows certain displays in the instrument panel to be switched off to reduce visual fatigue for the driver.
It operates only when the side lamps are on.

The “Erase” button resets the fuel consumption data in the touchscreen tablet and the instrument panel.

Trip computer, a few definitions Range
(miles or km)
The distance which can still be traveled with the fuel remaining in the tank (related to the average fuel consumption over the last few miles (kilometers) travelled). This value may vary following a change in the style of driving or the relief, resulting in a significant change in the current fuel consumption. When the fuel level is low, the message “Lo FUEL” is displayed. If only a small amount of fuel is added, the range may not be recalculated.

Current fuel consumption
(mpg or l/100 km or km/l) Calculated over the last few seconds.

Average fuel consumption
(mpg or l/100 km or km/l)
Calculated since the last trip computer reset.

Average speed
(mph or km/h)
