2018 Fiat 124 Spider Fuses and Fuse Box | Replacing a Blown Fuse
Essential for protecting the car’s electrical parts, the 2018 Fiat 124 Spider comes with a full joining system. The fuse box, which is an important part of this system, is placed in a way that makes it easy to do upkeep. There are safety barriers called fuses that keep important systems from getting damaged when something goes wrong because of an electrical overload or a broken part. When you have a problem, you need to find and replace a blown fuse right away. The fuse box usually has a lot of different fuses, and each one controls a different electrical function in the car. To change a blown fuse, first look in the owner’s manual for your car to find the right fuse and amperage rating. Once you know which fuse is blown, carefully remove it with fuse pullers or pliers and put in a new one with the same rating. This easy step-by-step process protects the health of the car’s electrical systems, making them work better and more reliably on the road.

REPLACING FUSES
General Information
Warning
- When replacing a blown fuse, always use an appropriate replacement fuse with the same amp rating as the original fuse. Never replace a fuse with another fuse of a higher amp rating. Never replace a blown fuse with metal wires or any other material. Do not place a fuse inside a circuit breaker cavity or vice versa. Failure to use proper fuses may result in serious personal injury, fire, and/or property damage.
- Before replacing a fuse, make sure that the ignition is off and that all the other services are switched off and/or disengaged.
- If the replaced fuse blows again, contact an authorized dealer.
- If a general protection fuse for safety systems (air bag system, braking system), power unit systems (engine system, transmission system), or steering system blows, contact an authorized dealer.
Your vehicle’s electrical system is protected by fuses.
If any lights, accessories, or controls do not work, inspect the appropriate circuit protector. If a fuse has blown, the inside element will be melted. If the same fuse blows again, go to an authorized dealer as soon as possible.
Fuse location
Fuses are grouped in two fuse boxes located in the interior on the left side of the vehicle and under the hood.
Interior Fuses
If the electrical system does not work, first inspect the fuses on the vehicle’s left side.
Proceed as follows:
- Make sure the ignition is placed in the OFF mode, and other switches are turned off.
- Open the fuse panel cover (located near the door).
Fuse Panel Cover - Press the retaining clip and remove the protection cover.
- Pull the fuse straight out with the fuse puller provided on the fuse block located in the engine compartment.
Fuse Puller - Inspect the fuse and replace it if it is blown.
Fuses- Normal Fuse
- Blown Fuse
- Insert a new fuse of the same amperage rating, and make sure it fits tightly. If it does not fit tightly, contact your authorized dealer. If you have no spare fuses, borrow one of the same rating from a circuit not essential to vehicle operation, such as the audio or outlet circuit.
- Reinstall the cover and make sure that it is securely installed.
Note: Always replace a fuse with a genuine FCA fuse or equivalent of the same rating. Otherwise, you may damage the electric system.
Underhood Fuses
If the headlights or other electrical components do not work and the fuses in the cabin are normal, inspect the fuse block in the engine compartment. If a fuse is blown, it must be replaced.
Make sure the ignition is placed in the OFF mode, and other switches are turned off, and remove the fuse block cover. If the lock is forcefully opened, the fuse block cover may come in contact with the frame when it is removed and become scratched.
When removing the cover, remove it slowly according to the following procedure:
- Disengage the rear lock by pressing down on the front tab with your fingers.
Underhood Fuse Block- Lock
- Cover
- Remove the front tab while slightly lifting the front of the cover.
- Remove the cover while lifting it and sliding it to the rear.
- If any fuse but the main fuse is blown, replace it with a new one of the same amperage rating.
Fuse- Normal Fuse
- Blown Fuse
- Reinstall the cover and make sure that it is securely installed.

FAQs
The fuse box in the 2018 Fiat 124 Spider is typically located in the engine compartment, near the battery.
The Fiat 124 Spider generally has one main fuse box, but the location may vary slightly depending on the model and trim.
The fuse box cover is usually labeled with a diagram that indicates the function of each fuse and the corresponding amperage.
You may need a fuse puller or a pair of needle-nose pliers to remove the blown fuse. It’s also helpful to have a flashlight.
Check the metal filament inside the fuse; if it’s broken or burnt, the fuse is likely blown. Additionally, the fuse box cover may have a diagram indicating which fuse corresponds to which component.
See the fuse box diagram to identify the specific fuse that controls the headlights. It’s usually labeled and color-coded.
The amperage ratings for fuses in the Fiat 124 Spider may vary depending on the circuit.
No, it’s not recommended to use a higher amperage fuse. Always replace a blown fuse with one of the same amperage to prevent damage to the electrical system.
Use a fuse puller or a pair of needle-nose pliers to grasp the fuse and pull it straight out. Be gentle to avoid damaging the fuse or the fuse box.
Replacement fuses are commonly available at auto parts stores. Ensure you get the correct type and amperage for the specific circuit.
Some models may come with spare fuses stored in the fuse box. Check the fuse box cover or the owner’s manual for information.
The power windows may share a fuse with other accessories like the power locks or interior lights. Check the fuse box diagram for details.
While it’s not always necessary, disconnecting the battery can be a precautionary measure to ensure safety when working with the electrical system.
Yes, replacing a fuse is a relatively simple task. Follow the instructions in the owner’s manual and exercise caution to avoid damaging the fuse or the fuse box.
If replacing the fuse doesn’t resolve the issue, there may be a more significant electrical problem. Consult a professional mechanic or the Fiat dealership for further diagnosis and repair.
