2018 Fiat 500 Instrument Clusters | How to use Display

The 2018 Fiat 500 Instrument Cluster is an important part of the car’s interior because it shows important information in a way that is easy to understand. The instrument panel is behind the steering wheel and has a clean, simple screen with several gauges and indicators on it. This cluster’s main job is to show important information like speed, fuel level, engine temperature, and odometer numbers so the driver knows what’s going on with the car while it’s running.
The multifunctional display is the most important part of the instrument cluster. It lets the driver connect with the car’s advanced systems. There are controls on the steering wheel that make it easy for drivers to access a variety of functions on the display and use it successfully. With these controls, users can switch between different display modes, get trip information, check the gas mileage, and even get repair alerts.
The screen also has more advanced features, like Bluetooth connectivity and smartphone integration, which let drivers handle calls and media straight from the instrument cluster. In addition, the cluster may show real-time guidance information, which would make driving smooth. The 2018 Fiat 500 Instrument Cluster not only makes the inside of the car look better, but it’s also a very important part of keeping drivers updated and connected while they’re driving.

Instrument Cluster Descriptions

  1. Tachometer
    1. This gauge measures engine revolutions per minute (RPM x 1000). Before the pointer reaches the red area, ease up on the accelerator to prevent engine damage.
  2. Temperature Gauge
    1. The temperature gauge shows the engine coolant temperature. Any reading within the normal range indicates that the engine cooling system is operating satisfactorily.
    2. The digital gauge will likely indicate a higher temperature when driving in hot weather, or up mountain grades. It should not be allowed to exceed the upper limits of the normal operating range.
      WARNING!
      1. Driving with a hot engine cooling system could damage your vehicle. If the temperature gauge reads “H” pull over and stop the vehicle. Idle the vehicle with the air conditioner turned off until the pointer drops back into the normal range. If the pointer remains on the “H,” turn the engine off immediately and call an authorized dealer for service.
      2. A hot engine cooling system is dangerous. You or others could be badly burned by steam or boiling coolant. You may want to call an authorized dealer for service if your vehicle overheats. If you decide to look under the hood yourself, see “Servicing And Maintenance.” Follow the warnings under the Cooling System Pressure Cap paragraph.
  3. Speedometer
    1. Indicates vehicle speed.
  4. Fuel Gauge
    1. The digital display shows the amount of fuel in the tank.
    2. The switching on of the digital warning light indicates that 1 – 1.3 gallons of fuel are left in the tank; in this situation, refuel as soon as possible.
    3. Do not travel with the fuel tank almost empty; any gaps in fuel delivery could damage the catalytic converter.
  5. Base And Sport Mode Gauge Displays
Depending on what options and trim level your vehicle may be equipped with, two gauge displays are available with the push of the Sport Mode button.
    1. Instant Consumption Bar graph: This bar graph shows the instant fuel consumption, the style changes according to the vehicle version while minimum and maximum values change depending on the selected unit. The possible labels are:
    2. Mpg
    3. Km/l
    4. l/100 km
    5. “Sport Mode” — Gas Pedal Percentage Gauge: This gauge shows what percent the gas pedal is currently depressed at.
    6. “Sport Mode” — The active instrument cluster display screen will change to the G-Force screen.
    7. “Sport Turbo Mode” — This gauge shows the Turbo boost during acceleration.
    8. “Turbo Pressure Gauge” — This gauge shows the level of turbo pressure.
NOTE: Different trips may have different values even if the same driving style is maintained. Some factors that may impact the calculated index value are:
    9. Traffic conditions
    10. Trip duration
    11. Temperature (engine and ambient)
  6. Instrument Cluster Display
    1. The instrument cluster display features a driver-interactive display. Refer to “Instrument Cluster Dis-play” in “Getting To Know Your Instrument Panel” for further information.

INSTRUMENT CLUSTER DISPLAY
Your vehicle may be equipped with an instrument cluster display, which offers useful information to the driver. Oil Change Reset
Your vehicle is equipped with an engine oil change indicator system. The “Change Engine Oil” message will appear in the instrument cluster display for approximately 5 seconds after a single chime has sounded to indicate the next scheduled oil change interval. The engine oil change indicator system is duty cycle based, which means the engine oil change interval may fluctuate, depending on your driving style.
Unless reset, this message will continue to display each time the ignition is placed in the MAR (ACC/ON/RUN) position. To turn off the message temporarily, push and release the MENU button. To reset the oil change indicator system (after performing the scheduled maintenance), refer to the following procedure.

  1. Place the ignition in the MAR (ACC/ON/RUN) position. (Do not start the engine.)
  2. Fully push the accelerator pedal slowly, three times within 10 seconds.
  3. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.

NOTE: If the indicator message illuminates when you start the vehicle, the oil change indicator system does not reset. If necessary, repeat this procedure.

TRIP COMPUTER
The Trip Computer is located in the instrument cluster. It displays trip information such as trip information, range, fuel consumption, average speed, and travel time.

Trip Button
The TRIP button, located on the right steering column stalk, can be used to display and reset the previously described values.

  • A short button push displays the different values.
  • A long button push resets the system and starts a new trip.

  • Average Speed B
  • Travel Time B (Driving Time)
  • Range
  • Instantaneous Fuel Consumption

NOTE: “Trip B” functions may be excluded (see “Trip B Data”). “Range” and “Instantaneous Fuel Consumption” cannot be reset.

Values Displayed
Range
This indicates the distance that may be traveled with the fuel remaining in the tank, assuming that driving conditions will not change. The message “—-” will appear on the display in the following cases:

  • Distance less than 30 miles (or 50 km).
  • The vehicle is parked for a long time with the engine running.

NOTE: The range depends on several factors: driving style, type of route (freeway, residential, mountain roads, etc.), and conditions of use of the vehicle (load, tire pressure, etc.). Trip planning must take into account the above notes.

Distance Traveled
This value shows the distance covered since the last reset.

Average FuelEconomy
This value shows the approximate average fuel consumption since the last reset.

Instantaneous Fuel Economy
This indicates the fuel consumption. The value is constantly updated. The message “—-” will appear on the display if the vehicle is parked with the engine running.

Average Speed
This value shows the vehicle’s average speed as a function of the overall time elapsed since the last reset.
