2022 Fiat Panda Engine Oil and Fluids
The 2022 Fiat Panda is powered by a sophisticated engine that requires regular maintenance, particularly for its vital components, the engine oil and fluids. These vital fluids, painstakingly designed and blended, guarantee the Panda’s engine’s best efficiency, longevity, and seamless running. Maintaining the Panda’s engine for a dependable and long-lasting driving experience requires an understanding of the function, significance, and upkeep of various oils and fluids.

WARNING
- Never smoke while working in the engine compartment: gas and inflammable vapours may be present, with the risk of fire.
- Be very careful when working in the engine compartment when the engine is hot: you may get burned.
IMPORTANT
- Be careful not to confuse the various types of fluids while topping up: they are not compatible with one another! Topping up with an
unsuitable fluid could severely damage your vehicle.
ENGINE OIL
Check the oil level a few minutes (about 5) after the engine has stopped, with the vehicle parked on level ground.
Check that the oil level is between the MIN and MAX references on the dipstick (B). If the level of the oil is close to or below the MIN mark, add oil via the filler fitting A until the MAX mark is reached.
NOTE
For 0.9 TwinAir, 0.9 TwinAir Turbo and 1.0 Firefly Hybrid versions, the engine oil level dipstick B is integral with the cap A. Loosen the plug, clean the dipstick with a cloth that does not leave traces, reinsert the dipstick and re-tighten the plug. Unscrew the plug again and check that the engine oil level is between the MIN and MAX marks on the dipstick.
Engine oil consumption
The maximum engine oil consumption is usually 400 grams every 1000 km. During the initial period of use the engine oil consumption conditions should be considered as having stabilised after the first 5000 – 6000 km.
Topping up the engine oil (for TwinAir engines)
If the message requesting an engine oil top-up appears on the display, the user must top up the oil to the MAX level and then reset the warning from the instrument panel as described in the “Display” chapter the “Knowing the instrument panel” section.
NOTE
After adding or changing the oil, let the engine turn over for a few seconds and wait a few minutes after turning it off before you check the level.
ENGINE COOLANT
The coolant level must be checked when the engine is cold and must range between the MIN and MAX marks on the reservoir.
If the level is too low, unscrew reservoir cap C and add the fluid described in the “Technical Specifications” section.
WINDSCREEN/REAR WINDOW WASHER FLUID
If the level is too low, raise reservoir cap (D) (see previous pages) and add the fluid described in the “Technical Specifications” section.
BRAKE FLUID
Check that the fluid is at the maximum level (the fluid level in the reservoir must not exceed the MAX mark). If the fluid level in the reservoir is too low, undo reservoir cap (E) and add the fluid described in the “Technical Specifications” section.
NOTE
Carefully clean the cap of the reservoir (E) and the surrounding surface. Take great care to ensure that impurities do not enter the reservoir when the cap is opened. Always use a funnel with a built-in filter with a mesh of 0.12 mm or less.
CONVENTIONAL BATTERY
174) 175) 176) 177) 60) 4)
The conventional battery (F) does not require the electrolyte to be topped up with distilled water. A periodic check carried out at a Fiat Dealership is, however, necessary to check efficiency.
WARNING
After the conventional battery is disconnected, the steering must be initialised. The warning light on the instrument panel switches on to indicate this. To carry out this procedure turn the steering wheel all the way from one end to the other or drive in a straight line for about a hundred metres.
WARNING
If the charge level remains under 50% for a long time, the conventional battery is damaged by
FAQs
The owner’s manual usually specifies the recommended engine oil type for the Panda. Commonly, it’s a viscosity-rated synthetic or semi-synthetic oil.
Generally speaking, oil changes should be performed every 5,000 to 10,000 miles or according to the manufacturer’s recommendations.
To guarantee appropriate lubrication and performance, engine oils that satisfy the requirements listed in the owner’s manual are advised.
The engine oil dipstick is typically found close to the engine and is easily recognized by its brightly colored handle.
To check the oil level against the markings, park the car on a level surface, wait for the engine to cool down, remove the dipstick, clean it, and then fully insert it again.
To prevent overfilling, add the recommended amount of oil gradually if the oil level is low. Using the dipstick, check the level once more.
Different engine oil types and viscosities should generally not be mixed together as this can have an adverse effect on lubrication and performance.
For detailed instructions on inspecting and replenishing other fluids such as coolant, power steering fluid, brake fluid, and transmission fluid, consult the owner’s manual.
Regular oil changes should be performed; otherwise, engine wear and performance may be compromised, and possible damage from inadequate lubrication may occur.
It is normal for the oil level to slightly drop between changes as a result of consumption. On the other hand, a large drop could point to a leak or engine problem that needs to be fixed.
Because of the potential for contaminants to accumulate during use, it is generally not advised to reuse drained engine oil.
Used engine oil is frequently accepted for proper disposal at nearby recycling facilities or auto parts stores. Do not dispose of it in regular household waste or down drains.
The necessary oil viscosity grade can be impacted by extremely high or low temperatures. While thicker oils perform better in hotter climates, thinner oils are typically preferred in colder climates.
To guarantee ideal filtration and engine health, it is strongly advised to replace the oil filter every time the engine oil is changed.
To prevent possible engine damage from increased pressure, drain any extra engine oil as soon as possible. When in doubt, get help from a professional.
