2023 FORD Ranger Fuses Operation Instructions

Inside the 2023 Ford Ranger’s complex electrical system is a system of fuses that act as quiet sentries to protect the vehicle’s many electrical parts. These simple gadgets are very important for making sure that different systems work well and don’t get damaged by too much electricity. These fuses are in the fuse box, which is usually in an easy-to-reach place in the engine compartment or cabin. They act as guardians, letting power flow only when safe levels are kept. When a circuit has too much power, a blown fuse stops the flow, which keeps the part from getting hurt. The way the fuses work in the 2023 Ford Ranger adds an important layer of safety. They work in sync with the vehicle’s complex technological ecosystem to keep the vehicle and its passengers safe while making sure it keeps running smoothly.

FUSE BOX LOCATIONS
Left-Hand Drive

Note: The passenger compartment fuse box is on the right-hand side for right-hand drive vehicles.

Pre-fuse Box

Your vehicle has a pre-fuse box in the engine compartment attached to the positive battery post. This box contains several high current fuses. If replacement of these high current fuses is required, see an authorized dealer.

Engine Compartment Fuse Box

WARNING: Always disconnect the battery before servicing high current fuses.
WARNING: To reduce risk of electrical shock, always replace the cover to the power distribution box before reconnecting the battery or refilling fluid reservoirs.

The engine compartment fuse box has high-current fuses that protect your vehicle’s main electrical systems from overloads.
When you disconnect and reconnect the battery, you need to reset some features. See Changing the 12V Battery .
Lift the release lever at the rear of the cover to remove it.

High Current Fuse Box

Your vehicle has a pre-fuse box in the engine compartment below the engine compartment fuse box. This box contains several high current fuses. If replacement of these high current fuses is required, see an authorized dealer.

Passenger Compartment Fuse Box
The fuse box is behind the access cover on the outermost side of the steering column.

Power Distribution Box – Bottom
There are fuses on the bottom of the fuse box. To access the bottom of the fuse box:

A Toward the front of the vehicle.

1. Release the two latches on both sides of the fuse box.
2. Lift the rear of the fuse box from the cradle.
   
3. Move the fuse box toward the rear of the engine compartment and rotate as shown.
4. Pivot the rear of the fuse box to access the bottom side.
5. Release the two latches to open the fuse cover.

CHANGING A FUSE
Fuses
WARNING: Always replace a fuse with one that has the specified amperage rating. Using a fuse with a higher amperage rating can cause severe wire damage and could start a fire.

If electrical components in the vehicle are not working, a fuse may have blown. Blown fuses are identified by a broken wire within the fuse. Check the appropriate fuses before replacing any electrical components.
