Relay and Fuse Diagrams: 2023 Genesis GV80 Blown Fuse Guide
Welcome to the world of automotive maintenance, where the Genesis GV80 stands out with its cutting-edge features and sleek design. In this guide, we will look at an important aspect of vehicle maintenance: the fuses and fuse box of the 2023 Genesis GV80. Understanding how to identify, check, and replace fuses is a necessary skill for any vehicle owner, as it ensures the proper operation of various electrical components in your Genesis GV80. Fuses are critical components in protecting your Genesis GV80’s electrical system. They function as safety devices, preventing electrical overloads that could harm sensitive components. When an electrical circuit experiences a surge or short circuit, the fuse “blows,” terminating the circuit and protecting the vehicle’s electronics.

Fuses and Fuse Box
FUSES
A vehicle’s electrical system is protected from electrical overload damage by fuses. This vehicle has 5 fuse panels, one located in the driver’s side panel bolster, the other in the engine compartment.
If any of your vehicle’s lights, accessories, or controls do not work, check the appropriate circuit fuse. If a fuse has blown, the element inside the fuse will be melted or broken. If the electrical system does not work, first check the driver’s side fuse panel. Before replacing a blown fuse, turn the engine and all switches off, and then disconnect the negative battery cable. Always replace a blown fuse with one of the same ratings. If the replacement fuse blows, this indicates an electrical problem.
WARNING
NEVER replace a fuse with anything but another fuse of the same rating.
- A higher capacity fuse could cause damage and possibly cause a fire.
- Do not install a wire or aluminum foil instead of the proper fuse – even as a temporary repair. It may cause extensive wiring damage and possibly a fire.
NOTICE
Do not use a screwdriver or any other metal object to remove fuses because it may cause a short circuit and damage the system.
Instrument Panel Fuse Replacement
- Turn the vehicle off.
- Turn all other switches off.
- Open the fuse panel cover.
- Refer to the label on the inside of the fuse panel cover to locate the suspected fuse location.
- Pull the suspected fuse straight out. Use the removal tool (1) provided in the engine compartment fuses panel cover.
- Check the removed fuse; replace it if it is blown. Spare fuses are provided in the instrument panel fuse panels (or in the engine compartment fuse panel).
- Push in a new fuse of the same rating, and make sure it fits tightly in the clips. If it fits loosely, consult an authorized retailer of Genesis Branded products.
In an emergency, if you do not have a spare fuse, use a fuse of the same rating from a circuit you may not need for operating the vehicle, such as the cigarette lighter fuse. If the headlamps or other electrical components do not work and the fuses are undamaged, check the fuse panel in the engine compartment. If a fuse is blown, it must be replaced with the same rating.
Engine Compartment Panel Fuse Replacement
Blade fuse / Cartridge fuse
- Turn the vehicle off.
- Turn all other switches off.
- Remove the fuse panel cover by pressing the tap and pulling up.
- Check the removed fuse; replace it if it is blown. To remove or insert the fuse, use the fuse puller in the engine compartment fuse panel.
- Push in a new fuse of the same rating, and make sure it fits tightly in the clips. If it fits loosely, consult an authorized retailer of Genesis Branded products.
NOTICE
After checking the fuse panel in the engine compartment, securely install the fuse panel cover. You may hear a clicking sound if the cover is securely latched. If it is not securely latched, electrical failure may occur from water contact.
Multi fuse / Midi fuse
If the multi fuse or midi fuse is blown, consult an authorized retailer of Genesis Branded products.

How to Replace Genesis GV80 Fuses
Replacing fuses in a Genesis GV80 is a straightforward process. Here’s a detailed guide along with some helpful tips:
-
Locate the Fuse Box: The fuse box in the Genesis GV80 is typically located either under the dashboard on the driver’s side or under the hood near the battery. Look for a rectangular or square-shaped black plastic box.
-
Identify the Fuse Box Cover: The fuse box cover may have a diagram indicating which fuses correspond to various components.
-
Turn Off the Vehicle: Before beginning any work on the fuses, ensure that the vehicle is completely turned off, and the key is removed from the ignition.
-
Open the Fuse Box Cover: Depending on the model year of your Genesis GV80, you may need to press a release latch or simply lift the cover to access the fuses. Some models may have additional covers within the fuse box itself.
-
Determine the Faulty Fuse: If you’re encountering a specific electrical issue, utilize the fuse diagram to identify which fuse corresponds to the malfunctioning component.
-
Remove the Fuse: Use a fuse puller tool if one is available, or carefully grip the fuse with your fingers and pull it straight out. Ensure you do this gently to avoid damaging the fuse or the fuse box.
-
Inspect the Fuse: Visually inspect the fuse to determine if the wire inside is intact. If the wire is broken or there are signs of damage, the fuse requires replacement.
-
Select the Correct Replacement Fuse: Using an incorrect fuse can lead to electrical problems or damage to your vehicle.
-
Insert the New Fuse: Carefully insert the new fuse into the slot from which you removed the old one. Ensure that it fits securely and is seated properly.
-
Close the Fuse Box Cover: After replacing the fuse, firmly close the fuse box cover to prevent any dust or moisture from entering the fuse box.
-
Test the Component: Turn the ignition to the accessory position (without starting the engine) and test the component associated with the fuse to verify that it’s functioning correctly.
Tips:
- Keep a variety of spare fuses in your vehicle, covering different amperages, in case of emergencies.
- Periodically inspect your fuses if you notice any electrical issues with your Genesis GV80.
- Handle fuses delicately to prevent damage to the fuse box or other components.
- If you’re uncertain about which fuse controls a particular component, consider seeking assistance from a professional mechanic.
FAQs
A fuse protects electrical circuits from overload by breaking the circuit when too much current flows through it.
A relay is an electrically operated switch that controls the flow of electricity to various components, turning them on or off as needed.
The fuse box is typically located under the dashboard on the driver’s side or under the hood near the battery.
Checking diagrams helps identify the location and function of each fuse and relay, aiding in troubleshooting electrical issues.
It shows the location and amperage rating of each fuse and the function of each relay, aiding in identification and replacement.
Yes, you can typically replace a blown fuse by locating the fuse box and replacing it with a new one of the same amperage.
Determine the cause, replace it with a new fuse of the same amperage, and address any underlying issues.
Avoid overloading circuits, regularly check and maintain the electrical system, and use correct amperage fuses.
Yes, including short circuits, faulty wiring, malfunctioning components, and water damage.
No, using a higher amperage fuse can lead to electrical problems and damage.
Visually inspect the fuse or use a multimeter to test for continuity.
It controls power to critical systems like the engine control unit, fuel pump, and ignition system.
Yes, if not addressed promptly, faulty relays can cause electrical issues leading to blown fuses.
