2016-2023 Harley Davidson Street Headlamps Guide
A remarkable innovation in headlight design was debuted with the 2016–2023 Harley Davidson Street series, fusing vintage Harley styling with cutting-edge lighting technology. HEADLAMP
Checking Headlamp Alignment
- Check tire pressure. Refer to Table 20.
- Adjust rear shocks for the rider and intended load. See BEFORE RIDING.
- Fill fuel tank or add an equal amount of ballast.
NOTE
Choose a wall in minimum light. - See Figure 39. Park the motorcycle in a line (1) perpendicular to the wall.
- Position motorcycle with front axle 7.6 m (25 ft) from wall.
- Draw a vertical line (2) on the wall.
- Point the front wheel straight forward at the wall.
- Measure the distance (4) from the floor to the center of the high beam bulb.
- Activate high beam. Verify headlamp alignment.
- Adjust if necessary.

Adjusting Headlamp
Set Horizontal Adjustment
- See Figure 40. Remove speed screen screws (1) and washers (2).
- Pull speed screen away from upper speed screen bracket (4).
- Pull speed screen way from lower speed screen bracket (5) to remove posts (6) from grommets.
- See Figure 41. Loosen horizontal adjustment locknut (1).
- Direct light beam straight ahead.
- Tighten horizontal adjustment locknut to 27.5-32.5 Nm (20.3-32.5 ft-lbs).
NOTE
Perform all adjustments before installing speed screen. - See Figure 40. Align posts of speed screen (3) with grommets.
- Install speed screen onto lower speed screen bracket (5).
- Align speed screen to upper speed screen bracket (4).
- Install washers (2) and screws (1). Tighten to 2.3-3.3 Nm (21-29 in-lbs).
Set Vertical Adjustment
- See Figure 41. Loosen locknut (1) for vertical adjustment bolt (2)
- Aim headlamp at horizontal line on wall.
- Tighten vertical adjustment locknut to 20.6-25.5 Nm (16-18 ft-lbs).

Replacing Headlamp or Position Bulb
The automatic-on headlamp feature provides increased visibility of the rider to other motorists. Be sure headlamp is on at all times. Poor visibility of rider to other motorists can result in death or serious injury. (00030b)
- See Figure 40. Remove screws (1) and washers (2).
- Pull speed screen away from upper speed screen bracket (4).
- Pull speed screen way from lower speed screen bracket (5) to remove posts (6) from grommets.
- Remove main fuse. See SERVICE PROCEDURES, Fuses and Relays.
- See Figure 42. Remove screws (6).
- Pull lens assembly (5) from headlamp housing.
- Disconnect electrical connectors from headlamp and position bulbs.
- Loosen screw (2).
- Remove retainer (3).
- Remove headlamp bulb (4).
- Remove position bulb (7).
- Install new headlamp or position bulb.
- Install retainer (3).
- Tighten screw (2).
- Connect electrical connectors to headlamp and position bulbs.
- Attach lens assembly (5) to headlamp housing.
- Install screws (6).
- See Figure 40. Align posts of speed screen (3) with grommets.
- Install speed screen onto lower speed screen bracket (5).
- Align speed screen to upper speed screen bracket (4).
- Install washers (2) and screws (1). Tighten to 2.3-3.3 Nm (21-29 in-lbs).
- Install main fuse. See SERVICE PROCEDURES, Fuses and Relays.

Be sure that all lights and switches operate properly before operating motorcycle. Low visibility of rider can result in death or serious injury. (00316a) 23. Check operation of all lamps.
