FUSES
A vehicle’s electrical system is protected from electrical overload damage by fuses. This vehicle has 2 (or 3) fuse panels, one located in the driver’s side panel bolster, the other in the engine compartment near the battery. If any of your vehicle’s lights, accessories, or controls do not work, check the appropriate circuit fuse. If a fuse has blown, the element inside the fuse will be melted or broken. If the electrical system does not work, first check the driver’s side fuse panel. Before replacing a blown fuse, turn the engine and all switches off, and then disconnect the negative battery cable. Always replace a blown fuse with one of the same rating. If the replacement fuse blows, this indicates an electrical problem. Avoid using the system involved and immediately consult an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
WARNING
NEVER replace a fuse with anything but another fuse of the same rating.
- A higher capacity fuse could cause damage and possibly cause a fire.
- Do not install a wire or aluminum foil instead of the proper fuse – even as a temporary repair. It may cause extensive wiring damage and possibly a fire.
NOTICE
Do not use a screwdriver or any other metal object to remove fuses because it may cause a short circuit and damage the system.
Instrument Panel Fuse Replacement
- Turn the engine off.
- Turn all other switches OFF.
- Open the fuse panel cover.
- Refer to the label on the inside of the fuse panel cover to locate the suspected fuse location.
- Pull the suspected fuse straight out. Use the removal tool provided in the engine compartment fuse panel.
- Check the removed fuse; replace it if it is blown. Spare fuses are provided in the instrument panel fuse panels (or in the engine compartment fuse panel).
- Push in a new fuse of the same rating, and make sure it fits tightly in the clips. If it fits loosely, consult an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
In an emergency, if you do not have a spare fuse, use a fuse of the same rating from a circuit you may not need for operating the vehicle. If the headlamps or other electrical components do not work and the fuses are undamaged, check the fuse panel in the engine compartment. If a fuse is blown, it must be replaced with the same rating.
Fuse switch
Always, place the fuse switch in the ON position. If you move the switch to the OFF position, some items such as the audio system and digital clock must be reset and the smart key may not work properly.
Information
If the fuse switch is OFF, the above message will appear.
NOTICE
- Always place the fuse switch in the ON position while driving the vehicle.
- Do not move the fuse switch repeatedly. The fuse switch may be damaged.
Engine Compartment Panel Fuse Replacement
- Turn the engine off.
- Turn all other switches OFF.
- Remove the fuse panel cover by pressing the tap and pulling up.
- Check the removed fuse; replace it if it is blown. To remove or insert the fuse, use the fuse puller in the engine compartment fuse panel.
- Push in a new fuse of the same rating, and make sure it fits tightly in the clips. If it fits loosely, consult an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
CAUTION
After checking the fuse box in the engine compartment securely close the fuse box cover inside the engine compartment, until it clicks.
If the fuse box is not closed properly, water may leak inside, possibly causing a malfunction with the electrical system.
Main fuse
If the main fuse is blown, it must be removed as follows:
- Turn off the engine.
- Disconnect the negative battery cable.
- Remove the fuse panel cover by pressing the tab and pulling it up.
- Remove the nuts shown in the picture above.
- Replace the fuse with a new one of the same rating.
- Reinstall in the reverse order of removal.
Information
If the main fuse is blown, consult an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
Multi fuse
If the multi fuse is blown, it must be removed as follows:
- Turn off the engine.
- Disconnect the negative battery cable.
- Remove the fuse panel cover by pressing the tab and pulling it up.
- Remove the nuts shown in the picture above.
- Replace the fuse with a new one of the same rating.
- Reinstall in the reverse order of removal.
Information
If the multi fuse is blown, consult an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.

FAQs
Normally, the engine compartment of a 2020 Hyundai Venue houses the fuse box. It might also have an extra fuse box inside the car, which is often located on the driver’s side under the dashboard.
Just lift the car’s hood and look for the fuse box cover to access the engine compartment fuse box. It is often labeled and opens by pulling up a latch or pushing the tabs.
To repair a fuse, you usually don’t need any specialized tools. If fuses are hard to reach, a set of needle nose pliers could come in handy for taking them out and putting them back in.
Usually, a visible fractured or melted metal strip is found inside a blown fuse. The fuse may also seem discolored in comparison to a working fuse.
Depending on the circuit, the 2020 Hyundai Venue’s fuse amperage ratings change. The right amperage for each fuse can be found on the fuse box cover or in your owner’s handbook.
Numerous factors, including electrical shorts, overloaded circuits, defective parts, and wiring faults, can cause blown fuses. To stop recurrent fuse failures, the root cause must be addressed.
Replacing a fuse with a higher amp rating is not advised since it may cause electrical damage or even fire hazards. Use the exact amp rating that is indicated for each circuit at all times.
There can be a problem with the electrical system if a fuse blows again after it has been replaced. To identify and fix the issue, it’s best to have the car evaluated by a trained mechanic.
To find out the position and amp rating of each fuse, go to the fuse box diagram or your owner’s handbook. Furthermore, the functions of each fuse are indicated on labels found on a lot of fuse boxes.
The owner’s manual usually contains the fuse box diagram. Fuse box schematics are typically available online or from the dealership if you don’t have the handbook.
Grip the blown fuse firmly and pull it straight out of its socket with a fuse puller tool or a pair of needle-nose pliers.
Yes, a lot of fuse boxes feature clear coverings that let you see the fuses without taking them out. It is advisable to remove a fuse for a more thorough examination if you believe it to be blown.
Fuse testing can be done without taking them out by using a multimeter that is set to the resistance or continuity mode. The fuse is operational if the multimeter probes are placed on both ends of the fuse and continuity (low resistance) is shown.
Disconnecting the battery can be a safety precaution when working on electrical components, though it’s not always necessary to avoid unintentional short circuits or electrical shocks. Disconnect the battery and err on the side of caution if you’re not sure.
