Blown Fuses: 2021 Hyundai Sonata Fuse Diagrams Guide

Your 2021 Hyundai Sonata is a marvel of contemporary automotive engineering, combining cutting-edge technology and a sleek appearance to provide for a comfortable and entertaining ride. But even the most sophisticated cars occasionally experience electrical problems, with blown fuses being a common cause. Fuses are essential for protecting the electrical system of your Sonata because they cut off the power when an overload or short circuit happens. This safety feature is essential for avoiding damage to delicate parts, but it also means that blown fuses might momentarily interfere with the operation of other electrical systems in your car.

Fuses

Replace blown fuses 2021 Hyundai Sonata Fuses diagram fig 1

A vehicle’s electrical system is protected from electrical overload damage by fuses. This vehicle has 2 (or 3) fuse panels, one located in the driver’s side panel bolster, and the other in the engine compartment near the battery. If any of your vehicle’s lights, accessories, or controls do not work, check the appropriate circuit fuse. If a fuse has blown, the element inside the fuse will be melted or broken. If the electrical system does not work, first check the driver’s side fuse panel. Before replacing a blown fuse, turn the engine and all switches off, and then disconnect the negative battery cable. Always replace a blown fuse with one of the same rating. If the replacement fuse blows, this indicates an electrical problem. Avoid using the system involved and immediately consult an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.

NOTICE
The actual fuse/relay panel label may differ from the equipped items.

Information
Three kinds of fuses are used: blade type for lower amperage ratings, cartridge type, and fusible link for higher amperage ratings.

WARNING
NEVER replace a fuse with anything but another fuse of the same rating.

  • A higher capacity fuse could cause damage and possibly cause a fire.
  • Do not install a wire or aluminum foil instead of the proper fuse – even as a temporary repair. It may cause extensive wiring damage and possibly a fire.

CAUTION
Do not use a screwdriver or any other metal object to remove fuses because it may cause a short circuit and damage the system.

Instrument Panel Fuse Replacement

Replace blown fuses 2021 Hyundai Sonata Fuses diagram fig 2

  1. Turn the engine off.
  2. Turn all other switches OFF.
  3. Open the fuse panel cover.
  4. Refer to the label on the inside of the fuse panel cover to locate the suspected fuse location.Replace blown fuses 2021 Hyundai Sonata Fuses diagram fig 3
  5. Pull the suspected fuse straight out. Use the removal tool provided in the engine compartment fuse panel.
  6. . Check the removed fuse; replace it if it is blown. Spare fuses are provided in the instrument panel fuse panels (or in the engine compartment fuse panel).
  7. Push in a new fuse of the same rating, and make sure it fits tightly in the clips. If it fits loosely, consult an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.

In an emergency, if you do not have a spare fuse, use a fuse of the same rating from a circuit you may not need for operating the vehicle, such as the cigarette lighter fuse. If the headlamps or other electrical components do not work and the fuses are OK, check the fuse panel in the engine compartment. If a fuse is blown, it must be replaced with the same rating.

Fuse switch

Replace blown fuses 2021 Hyundai Sonata Fuses diagram fig 4

Always, place the fuse switch to the ON position. If you move the switch to the OFF position, some items such as the audio system and digital clock must be reset and the smart key may not work properly.

Information

If the fuse switch is OFF, the above message will appear.

NOTICE

  • Always place the fuse switch in the ON position while driving the vehicle.
  • Do not move the transportation fuse switch repeatedly. The fuse switch may be damaged.

FAQs

Where is the fuse box located in a 2021 Hyundai Sonata?

On the driver’s side of the dashboard is normally where the fuse box is found in a 2021 Hyundai Sonata.

How do I access the Hyundai Sonata fuse box?

By opening the driver’s side door and searching for a panel on the side of the dashboard, you can reach the fuse box. To see the fuses, remove the panel cover.

What tools do I need to replace a Hyundai Sonata blown fuse?

To remove and replace a blown fuse, you usually just need a fuse puller tool or a pair of needle-nose pliers.

How can I identify a Hyundai Sonata blown fuse?

Usually, a fractured metal strip is seen within a blown fuse. Every fuse can be visually inspected to look for any indications of damage.

What ampere rating fuses does the 2021 Hyundai Sonata use?

Depending on the circuit, fuses in a Hyundai Sonata have different ampere ratings. For detailed information, see the fuse box cover or your owner’s handbook.

Which fuse controls the headlights in a 2021 Hyundai Sonata?

Usually marked with a label, the headlight fuse is found in the fuse box. For a precise position, see your owner’s manual or the diagram.

How do I remove a Hyundai Sonata blown fuse safely?

Grip the blown fuse carefully from its slot using a fuse puller tool or a pair of needle-nose pliers.

Can I replace a Hyundai Sonata blown fuse with a higher ampere-rated fuse?

No, it isn’t advised. If a fuse blows, always replace it with one that has the same ampere rating to keep the electrical system safe.

What should I do if a Hyundai Sonata fuse keeps blowing repeatedly?

A persistently blowing fuse could be a sign of an underlying electrical issue. Seek the advice of a qualified mechanic for diagnostics and repairs.

Is there a spare fuse available in the Hyundai Sonata fuse box?

Spare fuses for certain cars are kept in the fuse box. Look for extra fuses and use them if necessary.

How do I know if a Hyundai Sonata fuse is good without removing it?

You can use a multimeter that is in continuity mode to determine whether a fuse is in good condition without taking it out of its socket.

Which Hyundai Sonata fuse controls the radio or infotainment system?

In the fuse box, the fuse for the infotainment system or radio should have a label.

Can I replace a Hyundai Sonata fuse myself, or do I need to visit a dealership?

If you take the right safety precautions and use the appropriate replacement fuse, you can replace a blown fuse on your own.

Do I need to disconnect the battery before replacing a Hyundai Sonata fuse?

While it’s not required, unplugging the batteries before changing a fuse could be a

precaution to prevent unintentional short circuits.

Where can I find a detailed fuse diagram for my 2021 Hyundai Sonata?

The inside of the fuse box cover or your owner’s handbook both have a comprehensive fuse diagram.
