Check the stroke of the parking brake by counting the number of “clicks’’ heard while fully applying it from the released position. Also, the parking brake alone should securely hold the vehicle on a fairly steep grade. If the stroke is more or less than specified, have the system be serviced by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.

AIR CLEANER

Filter Replacement

The air cleaner filter can be cleaned for inspection using compressed air. Do not attempt to wash or to rinse it, as water will damage the filter. If soiled, the air cleaner filter must be replaced.

1. Loosen the air cleaner cover by attaching clip (1) and open the cover.
   
2. Replace the air cleaner filter.
   
3. Insert the air cleaner cover in the hinge (2) and engage the clip (1) after closing the cover.
4. Check that the cover is firmly installed.

If the vehicle is operated in extremely dusty or sandy areas, replace the element more often than the usual recommended intervals (refer to “Maintenance Under Severe Usage Conditions” in this chapter).

• Do not drive with the air cleaner filter removed. This will result in excessive engine wear.
•  When removing the air cleaner filter, be careful that dust or dirt does not enter the air intake, or damage may result.

CABIN AIR FILTER

The cabin air filter should be replaced according to the Maintenance Schedule. When you replace the cabin air filter, replace it by performing the following procedure, and be careful to avoid damaging other components.
Filter Replacement

1. Push in both sides of the glove box as shown. This will ensure that the glove box stopper pins will get released from its holding location allowing the glove box to hang.
   
2. Remove the cabin air filter case while pressing the lock on the right side of the cover.
   
3. Replace the cabin air filter.
4.  Reassemble in the reverse order of disassembly.

NOTICE
Install a new cabin air filter in the correct facing downwards, otherwise, it may be noisy and the effectiveness of the filter may be reduced.

WIPER BLADES

Blade Inspection
Contamination of either the windshield or the wiper blades with foreign matter can reduce the effectiveness of the windshield wiper functionality. Common sources of contamination are insects, tree sap, and hot wax treatments used by some commercial car washes.
