Hyundai Kona EV 2019

The 2019 Hyundai Kona EV is an electric version of the small SUV Hyundai Kona. It is good for the environment because it has an electric powertrain, emits no pollution, and has a useful range for daily driving and longer trips. The Kona EV has the same modern, eye-catching look as the regular Kona, but it also has a few unique features that make it stand out as an electric car. It has a closed front grille, special aerodynamic features, and a unique LED lighting design for the EV type. The style as a whole is sleek, dynamic, and nice to look at. The cabin of the Kona EV is comfy and well-designed, and it can fit up to five people. The interior has a high level of sophistication thanks to high-quality materials, a modern look, and a wide range of features. These may include a touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone integration, Bluetooth connection, USB ports, and optional features like a premium audio system, wireless charging, and a heads-up display.

The Kona EV has an electric motor and a big lithium-ion battery pack that powers it. The torque from the electric motor is fast, so the car moves quickly and smoothly. The Kona EV’s range varies on the size of its battery. Most options offer between 250 and 300 miles of range on a full charge. Charging options include normal household outlets and charging stations made just for electric vehicles. Fast charging is also available to speed up the charging process. When it comes to safety, the Kona EV comes with a full set of high-tech safety features. Some of these are forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot tracking, rear cross-traffic alert, and a rearview camera. Hyundai puts safety first and makes sure that both the driver and passengers are safe while moving.
The 2019 Hyundai Kona EV is easy to drive and doesn’t make a lot of noise. It is easy to drive, has quick steering, and is comfy to ride in. The electric powertrain gives the car quick acceleration and makes it quiet, making it perfect for driving in cities and cruising on the highway.

STEERING WHEEL

Electric Power Steering (EPS)

The system assists you with steering the vehicle. If the vehicle is turned off or if the power steering system becomes inoperative, you may still steer the vehicle, but it will require increased steering effort. Should you notice any change in the effort required to steer during normal vehicle operation, have the system checked by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.

NOTICE

  • If the Electric Power Steering The system does not operate normally, the warning light ( ) will illuminate the instrument cluster. You may steer the vehicle, but it will require increased steering efforts. Take your vehicle to an authorized HYUNDAI dealer and have the system checked as soon as possible.
  • If a malfunction is detected in the electric power steering (EPS) system, the power steering assist will be disabled. If this occurs, the EPS warning light in the cluster will either turn on or blink. The steering effort when turning may be increased. Have your vehicle checked by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer as soon as possible.

Information
The following symptoms may occur during normal vehicle operation:

  • The steering effort may be high immediately after placing the ignition switch in the ON position. This happens as the system performs the EPS system diagnostics. When the diagnostics are completed, the steering wheel effort will return to its normal condition. A click noise may be heard from the EPS relay after the POWER button is in the ON or OFF position.
  • Motor noise may be heard when the vehicle is at a stop or at a low driving speed.
  • When you operate the steering wheel in low temperatures, you may hear a noise from the electric power steering system. If the temperature rises, the noise will disappear. This is a normal condition

Tilt Steering / Telescopic Steering
When adjusting the steering wheel to a comfortable position, adjust the steering wheel so that it points toward your chest, not toward your face. Make sure you can see the instrument cluster warning lights and gauges. After adjusting, push the steering wheel both up and down to be certain it is locked in position. Always adjust the position of the steering wheel before driving.

WARNING
NEVER adjust the steering wheel while driving. This may cause loss of vehicle control resulting in an accident.

To adjust the steering wheel angle and height:

  1. Pull down the lock-release lever (1).
  2. Adjust the steering wheel to the desired angle (2) and distance forward/back (3).
  3. Pull up the lock-release lever to lock the steering wheel in place.

Information
Sometimes the lock release lever may not engage completely. This may occur when the gears of the locking mechanism do not completely mesh. If this occurs, pull down on the lock-release lever, readjust the steering wheel again, and then pull back up on the release lever to lock the steering wheel in place.

Horn
To sound the horn, press the area indicated by the horn symbol on your steering wheel (see illustration). The horn will operate only when this area is pressed.

NOTICE
Do not strike the horn severely to operate it, or hit it with your fist. Do not press on the horn with a sharp-pointed object.

Heated Steering Wheel (if equipped)
When the POWER button is in the ON position or when the vehicle is in the ready ( ) mode, press the heated steering wheel button to warm the steering wheel. The indicator on the button will illuminate. To turn the heated steering wheel off, press the button again. The indicator on the button will turn off. The heated steering wheel will automatically turn off after approximately 30 minutes.

NOTICE
Do not install any cover or accessory on the steering wheel. The cover or accessory could cause damage to the heated steering wheel system.

MIRRORS

Inside Rearview Mirror
Before driving your vehicle, check to see that your inside rearview mirror is properly positioned. Adjust the rearview mirror so that the view through the rear window is properly centered.

WARNING
Make sure your line of sight is not obstructed. Do not place objects in the rear seat, cargo area, or behind the rear headrests which could interfere with your vision through the rear window. To prevent serious injury during an accident or deployment of the airbag, do not modify the rearview mirror and do not install a wide mirror. NEVER adjust the mirror while driving. This may cause a loss of vehicle control resulting in an accident.

NOTICE
When cleaning the mirror, use a paper towel or similar material dampened with glass cleaner. Do not spray glass cleaner directly on the mirror as this may cause the liquid cleaner to enter the mirror housing.

To adjust the Zone setting:

  1. Determine the desired Zone Number based on your current location on the Zone Map.
  2. Press and hold the Control Button for up to 6 seconds, and the current zone Number will appear on the display.
  3. Release and press the Control Button and then hold the Control Button again will cause the numbers to increment (Note: they will repeat …13, 14, 15, 1, 2, …). Releasing the button when the desired Zone Number appears on the display will set the new Zone.
  4. Within about 5 seconds the compass will start displaying a compass heading again.

There are some conditions that can cause changes to the vehicle magnets, such as installing a ski rack or a CB antenna. Body repair work on the vehicle can also cause changes to the vehicle’s magnetic field. In these situations, the compass will need to be re-calibrated to correct these changes.
