Replacing Fuse: 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe XL Fuse Diagrams
Electrical systems are essential to the smooth operation of the complex ecology that is modern autos. Fuse guards these systems from electrical overloads and damage to critical circuits. They are simple but essential parts of the system. Maintaining continuous operation in the 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe XL requires an awareness of the fuse layout and replacement procedure. It can be intimidating to find your way through the confusing array of fuses, but with the correct information, changing a fuse is an easy operation. The purpose of this tutorial is to clarify the fuse layout and the procedures for replacing the fuses in the 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe XL.

FUSES
A vehicle’s electrical system is protected from electrical overload damage by fuses. This vehicle has 2 fuse panels, one located in the driver’s side panel bolster, and the other in the engine compartment near the battery. If any of your vehicle’s lights, accessories, or controls do not work, check the appropriate circuit fuse. If a fuse has blown, the element inside the fuse will be melted. If the electrical system does not work, first check the driver’s side fuse panel. Always replace a blown fuse with one of the same rating. Before replacing an open fuse, disconnect the negative battery cable. If the replacement fuse blows, this indicates an electrical problem. Avoid using the system involved and immediately consult an authorized HYUNDAI dealer. Three kinds of fuses are used: blade type for lower amperage ratings, cartridge type, and multi fuse for higher amperage ratings.
WARNING – Fuse replacement
- Never replace a fuse with anything but another fuse of the same rating.
- A higher capacity fuse could cause damage and possibly a fire.
- Never install a wire or aluminum foil instead of the proper fuse – even as a temporary repair. It may cause extensive wiring damage and a possible fire.
CAUTION
Do not use a screwdriver or any other metal object to remove fuses because it may cause a short circuit and damage the system.
NOTICE
The actual fuse/relay panel label may differ from the equipped items.
CAUTION
- When replacing an open fuse or relay with a new one, make sure the new fuse or relay fits tightly into the clips. The incomplete fastening fuse or relay may cause the vehicle wiring and electric systems damage and a possible fire.
- Do not remove fuses, relays, and terminals fastened with bolts or nuts. The fuses, relays, and terminals may be fastened incompletely, and it may cause a possible fire. If fuses, relays, and terminals fastened with bolts or nuts are open, consult with an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
- Do not input any other objects except fuses or relays into fuse/relay terminals such as a driver or wiring. It may cause contact failure and system malfunction.
Inner panel fuse replacement
- Turn the ignition switch and all other switches off.
- Open the fuse panel cover.
- Pull the suspected fuse straight out. Use the removal tool provided in the engine compartment fuse panel.
- Check the removed fuse; replace it if it is blown.
- Push in a new fuse of the same rating, and make sure it fits tightly in the clips.
If it fits loosely, consult an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
If you do not have a spare, use a fuse of the same rating from a circuit you may not need for operating the vehicle, such as the cigar lighter fuse.
If the headlights or other electrical components do not work and the fuses are OK, check the fuse block in the engine compartment. If a fuse is blown, it must be replaced.
Fuse switch
Always, put the mode switch at the ON position. If you move the switch to the OFF position, some items such as the audio and digital clock must be reset and the transmitter (or smart key) may not work properly.
CAUTION
Always place the fuse switch in the ON position while driving the vehicle.
Engine compartment panel fuse replacement
- Turn the ignition switch and all other switches off.
- Remove the fuse box cover by pressing the tab and pulling up.
-
Check the removed fuse; replace it if it is blown. To remove or insert the fuse, use the fuse puller in the engine compartment fuse panel.
-
Push in a new fuse of the same rating, and make sure it fits tightly in the clips. If it fits loosely, consult an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
CAUTION
After checking the fuse box in the engine compartment, securely install the fuse box cover. If not, electrical failures may occur from water leaking in.
Multi fuse
If the multi fuse is blown, it must be removed as follows
- Disconnect the negative battery cable.
- Remove the bolts shown in the picture above.
- Replace the fuse with a new one of the same rating.
- Reinstall in the reverse order of removal.
NOTICE
If the multi fuse is blown, consult an Authorized HYUNDAI Dealer.
Main fuse
If the main fuse is blown, it must be removed as follows
- Disconnect the negative battery cable.
- Remove the nuts shown in the picture above.
- Replace the fuse with a new one of the same rating.
- Reinstall in the reverse order of removal.
Fuse/Relay panel description
Inside the fuse/relay box covers, you can find the fuse/relay label describing fuse/relay name and capacity.
NOTICE
Not all fuse panel descriptions in this manual may be applicable to your vehicle. It is accurate at the time of printing. When you inspect the fuse box on your vehicle, refer to the fuse box label.

FAQs
The fuse box is often found inside the car’s cabin or in the engine compartment. For precise location information, consult your owner’s manual.
Find the locking tabs or screws using the fuse box cover diagram that is provided, then carefully open the cover.
To safely remove a blown fuse, you may want to use a fuse puller tool or a pair of needle-nose pliers.
Examine the fuse for any broken metal strips. A multimeter can also be used to check the fuse’s continuity.
We do not advise doing so. To protect the electrical system from harm, always use the amp-rated fuse that is specified.
Colors frequently correspond to an amp rating. For a legend, consult the fuse box cover or your owner’s manual.
Typically, the cover of the fuse box has a diagram that shows how each fuse works. Additionally, a fuse chart ought to be included in your owner’s manual.
The electrical system might be experiencing an underlying problem. For a comprehensive inspection, seek advice from a qualified mechanic.
How do I remove a Hyundai Santa Fe XL fuse safely?
Use needle-nose pliers or a fuse puller tool. To protect the fuse and any nearby components, grab the fuse and pull it straight out.
In order to avoid electrical damage or fire hazards, replace fuses with the recommended amp rating at all times.
Whenever you notice electrical problems or during normal car maintenance, check fuses on a regular basis.
Spare fuses for certain cars are kept in the fuse box. For specifics, see the owner’s manual or the cover of the fuse box.
Depending on how the fuse works. While some are necessary for the operation of the vehicle, others might have an impact on optional features.
