FUSES
A vehicle’s electrical system is protected from electrical overload damage by fuses. This vehicle has 2 (or 3) fuse panels, one located in the driver’s side panel bolster, the other in the engine compartment near the battery.
If any of your vehicle’s lights, accessories, or controls do not work, check the appropriate circuit fuse. If a fuse has blown, the element inside the fuse will be melted or broken.
If the electrical system does not work, first check the driver’s side fuse panel. Before replacing a blown fuse, turn the engine and all switches off, and then disconnect the battery connector. Always replace a blown fuse with one of the same rating.
If the replacement fuse blows, this indicates an electrical problem. Avoid using the system involved and immediately consult an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
WARNING
NEVER replace a fuse with anything but another fuse of the same rating.
- A higher capacity fuse could cause damage and possibly cause a fire.
- Do not install a wire or aluminum foil instead of the proper fuse – even as a temporary repair. It may cause extensive wiring damage and possibly a fire.
NOTICE
Do not use a screwdriver or any other metal object to remove fuses because it may cause a short circuit and damage the system.
Instrument Panel Fuse Replacement
- Turn the vehicle off.
- Turn all other switches OFF.
- Open the fuse panel cover.
- Refer to the label on the inside of the fuse panel cover to locate the suspected fuse location.
- Pull the suspected fuse straight out. Use the removal tool provided in the engine compartment fuse panel.
- Check the removed fuse; replace it if it is blown. Spare fuses are provided in the engine compartment fuse panel.
- Push in a new fuse of the same rating, and make sure it fits tightly in the clips. If it fits loosely, consult an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
In an emergency, if you do not have a spare fuse, use a fuse of the same rating from a circuit you may not need for operating the vehicle.
If the other electrical components do not work and the fuses are undamaged, check the fuse panel in the engine compartment. If a fuse is blown, it must be replaced with the same rating. If the headlight, turn signal lamp, tail lamp, interior lamp doesn’t work and the fuses are undamaged, consult an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.

Engine Compartment Panel Fuse Replacement
- Turn the engine off.
- Turn all other switches OFF.
- Remove the fuse panel cover by pressing the tap and pulling up.
- Check the removed fuse; replace it if it is blown. To remove or insert the fuse, use the removal tool in the engine compartment fuse panel.
- Push in a new fuse of the same rating, and make sure it fits tightly in the clips. If it fits loosely, consult an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
CAUTION
- After checking the fuse box in the engine compartment securely close the fuse box cover inside the engine compartment, until it clicks.
- If the fuse box is not closed properly, water may leak in side, possibly causing a malfunction with the electrical system.
Multi fuse (Main fuse)
If the multi fuse is blown, it must be removed as follows:
- Turn off the engine.
- Disconnect the battery connector.
- Remove the fuse panel cover by pressing the tab and pulling it up.
- Remove the nuts shown in the picture above.
- Replace the fuse with a new one of the same rating.
- Reinstall in the reverse order of removal.
Information

FAQs
The fuse box’s primary purpose is to protect the vehicle’s electrical circuits by interrupting the flow of current when an overload or short circuit occurs, preventing electrical damage and fires.
The fuse box in the 2024 Hyundai Elantra Hybrid is typically located either under the dashboard on the driver’s side or in the engine compartment. The exact location may vary depending on the trim level.
A blown fuse can often be identified visually by inspecting the fuses. Look for a fuse with a broken or melted filament inside. Some vehicles may also have a fuse indicator light on the dashboard that illuminates when a fuse is blown.
Fuse amperage ratings indicate the maximum current a fuse can handle before it blows to protect the circuit. Different electrical components require fuses with specific amperage ratings to safeguard their circuits properly.
No, it is not safe to replace a blown fuse with one of a higher amperage rating. Doing so can lead to electrical problems, damage to the vehicle’s wiring, or fires. Always use the correct amperage-rated fuse.
To remove a blown fuse, use a fuse puller tool or a pair of needle-nose pliers. Grip the fuse near its base and pull it straight out.
If a warning light continues to appear after replacing a fuse, consult your owner’s manual to understand the meaning of the warning light and what action to take. Some lights may require further diagnosis or reset procedures.
Some vehicles may come with spare fuses. It’s a good practice to carry spare fuses of various amperage ratings in your vehicle’s glove compartment for emergencies.
It is generally not necessary to disconnect the battery when changing a fuse. However, ensure the ignition is turned off and the key is removed.
The fuse box cover or the owner’s manual for your 2024 Hyundai Elantra Hybrid should have a diagram identifying each fuse and its corresponding circuit or component.
If the issue persists after replacing the fuse, it may indicate an underlying electrical problem requiring professional diagnosis and repair. Consult a Hyundai service center or a qualified technician for assistance.
