Instrument Cluster: 2019 Infiniti QX80 Dashboard Instruction
The instrument cluster panel on the 2019 Infiniti QX80 is an essential part of the cabin and is made to give drivers important information on the condition and performance of the car. Usually, this panel has a digital display, a tachometer, a fuel gauge, and an analog speedometer. The tachometer measures engine RPM to help with gear selection and engine monitoring, while the analog speedometer shows the vehicle’s speed in an easily visible style. The driver is notified of the fuel level remaining by the fuel gauge. A variety of information can be shown on the digital display, including trip information, navigational instructions, safety alarms, and vehicle settings. It is a multipurpose screen. These parts complement one another to improve driver awareness and provide a more convenient and safe driving experience in Infiniti’s opulent QX80 full-size SUV.

- Warning/Indicator lights
- Speedometer*
- Engine coolant temperature gauge*
- Voltmeter*
- Vehicle information display/Odometer/twin trip odometer
- Engine oil pressure gauge*
- Fuel gauge*
*: The needle indicators may move slightly after the ignition switch is pushed to the OFF position. This is not a malfunction.
CAUTION
- For cleaning, use a soft cloth, dampened with water. Never use a rough cloth, alcohol, benzine, thinner or any kind of solvent or paper towel with a chemical cleaning agent. They will scratch or cause discoloration to the lens.
- Do not spray any liquid such as water on the meter lens. Spraying liquid may cause the system to malfunction.
SPEEDOMETER AND ODOMETER
Speedometer
The speedometer indicates vehicle speed in miles per hour (MPH) and kilometers per hour (km/h).
Odometer/twin trip odometer
- The odometer 1 and twin trip odometer 2 are displayed on the vehicle information display when the ignition switch is in the ON position.
- The odometer records the total distance the vehicle has been driven.
- The twin trip odometer records the distance of individual trips.
Changing the display:
Pushing the TRIP RESET switch 3 at the bottom left of the combination meter panel changes the display as follows:
- TRIP A → TRIP B → TRIP A
Resetting the trip odometer:
- Pushing the TRIP RESET switch 3 for more than 1 second resets the trip odometer to zero.
- Average fuel economy and distance to empty information is also available. (See “Vehicle information display”.)
TACHOMETER
- The tachometer indicates engine speed in revolutions per minute (RPM). Do not rev the engine into the red zone 1.
CAUTION
When engine speed approaches the red zone, shift to a higher gear or reduce engine speed. Operating the engine in the red zone may cause serious engine damage.
ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE GAUGE
The gauge indicates the engine coolant temperature. The engine coolant temperature is within the normal range when the gauge needle points within zone 1 shown in the illustration. The engine coolant temperature varies with the outside air temperature and driving conditions.
CAUTION
If the gauge indicates engine coolant temperature near the hot (H) end of the normal range, reduce vehicle speed to decrease temperature. If the gauge is over the normal range, stop the vehicle as soon as safely possible. If the engine is overheated, continued operation of the vehicle may seriously damage the engine. See “If your vehicle overheats” for immediate action required.
FUEL GAUGE
- The gauge indicates the approximate fuel level in the tank.
- The gauge may move slightly during braking, turning, acceleration, or going up or down hills.
- The gauge needle returns to 0 (Empty) after the ignition switch is pushed to the OFF position.
- Refill the fuel tank before the gauge registers “0” (Empty).
The low fuel warning appears on the vehicle information display when the fuel tank is getting low. Refuel as soon as it is convenient, preferably before the gauge reaches “0”. There will be a small reserve of fuel in the tank when the fuel gauge needle reaches “0”.
The indicates that the fuel-filler door is located on the driver’s side of the vehicle.
CAUTION
- If the vehicle runs out of fuel, the
malfunction indicator light (MIL) may come on. Refuel as soon as possible. After a few driving trips, the
light should turn off. If the light remains on after a few driving trips, have the vehicle inspected? It is recommended you visit an INFINITI retailer for this service.
- For additional information, see “Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL)”.
ENGINE OIL PRESSURE GAUGE
- The gauge indicates the engine lubrication system oil pressure while the engine is running. When the engine speed is high, the engine oil pressure is also high. When it is low, the gauge indicates the low (L) oil pressure.
- The engine oil pressure is normal when the gauge needle points within zone 1 shown in the illustration.
CAUTION
- This gauge is not designed to indicate a low engine oil level. Use the dipstick to check the oil level. (See “Engine oil”.)
- If the gauge needle does not move with the proper amount of engine oil, have the vehicle checked. It is recommended you visit an INFINITI retailer for this service. Continued vehicle operation in such a condition could cause serious damage to the engine.
VOLTMETER
When the ignition switch is pushed to the ON position, the volt meter indicates the battery voltage. When the engine is running, it indicates the generator voltage.
While cranking the engine, the volt drop below the normal range. If the needle is not in the normal range (10.5 to 15.5 volt) while the engine is running, it may indicate that the charging system is not functioning properly. Have the system checked. It is recommended you visit an INFINITI retailer for this service.
METER/RING ILLUMINATION AND NEEDLE SWEEP
- The ring illumination surrounding meters and gauges illuminates when the driver’s door is closed after getting into the vehicle with the Intelligent Key carried in.
- When the engine is started, the indicator needles will sweep in the speedometer and tachometer and the ring illumination will be brightened gradually. This function can be turned off. (See “Trip computer”.)
FAQs
The instrument cluster panel typically includes an analog speedometer, a tachometer, a fuel gauge, and a digital display.
The analog speedometer provides a visual representation of your vehicle’s speed using a needle on a numbered dial. It’s crucial to monitor your speed while driving.
The tachometer measures the engine’s revolutions per minute (RPM), allowing you to monitor engine performance and make informed gear-shift decisions, especially in manual transmissions.
The fuel gauge indicates the level of fuel in your vehicle’s tank. As you use fuel, the gauge needle moves from “Full” to “Empty,” helping you track your fuel consumption.
The digital display can show various information, including trip data (distance traveled, fuel economy), navigation directions, safety alerts (like low tire pressure), and customizable vehicle settings.
Yes, you can often customize the digital display to prioritize the information that’s most relevant to you using vehicle settings or controls on the steering wheel.
You can typically navigate through the menus and select options using controls located on the steering wheel, allowing you to make adjustments without taking your hands off the wheel.
Yes, safety alerts such as low tire pressure, check engine notifications, and other warnings are displayed on the digital display to keep you informed about the vehicle’s condition.
Some QX80 models may feature navigation directions and turn-by-turn instructions within the instrument cluster, making it easier to follow routes without looking away from the road.
The instrument cluster provides real-time data, enhancing driver awareness, safety, and convenience by offering essential information at a glance.
