Instrument Cluster Control
Adjusting Instrument Cluster Illumination
The instrument panel illumination intensity can be adjusted by pressing the control switch with the headlight switch in any position when the ignition switch is in the ON position.
The illumination intensity is shown on the instrument cluster LCD window.
- If you hold the illumination control button (“+” or “-”), the brightness will be changed continuously.
- If the brightness reaches the maxi-mum or minimum level, an alarm will sound.
LCD window Control
The LCD window modes can be changed by using the control buttons on the steering wheel.

- TRIP : TRIP button for changing trip modes
- RESET : RESET button for resetting items
[Type B,C]
- MODE button for change LCD MODES
- / : MOVE scroll switch to select items
- OK : SET/RESET button for setting or resetting items
For the LCD modes, refer to “LCD window” in this chapter.
Gauges
Speedometer
The speedometer indicates the for-ward speed of the vehicle.
The speedometer is calibrated in miles per hour and/or kilometers per hour.
Tachometer
The tachometer indicates the approximate number of engine revolutions per minute (rpm).
Use the tachometer to select the correct shift points and to prevent lugging and/or over-revving the engine.
The tachometer pointer may move slightly when the ignition switch is in ACC or ON position with the engine OFF. This movement is normal and will not affect the accuracy of the tachometer once the engine is running.
CAUTION
Red zone
Do not operate the engine with-in the tachometer’s RED ZONE. This may cause severe engine damage.
WARNING
Hot radiator
Never remove the radiator cap when the engine is hot. The engine coolant is under pressure and could cause severe burns. Wait until the engine is cool before adding coolant to the reservoir.
Engine coolant temperature gauge
This gauge shows the temperature of the engine coolant when the igntion switch is ON.
If the gauge pointer moves beyond the normal range area toward the position, it indicates overheating that may damage the engine.
Do not continue driving with an over-heated engine. If your vehicle over-heats, refer to the If the engine over-heats section in Chapter 6.
Fuel gauge
The fuel gauge indicates the approx-imate amount of fuel remaining in the fuel tank. The fuel tank capacity is indicated in Chapter 8. The fuel gauge is supplemented by a low fuel warning light, which will illuminate when the fuel tank is nearly empty.
On inclines or curves, the fuel gauge pointer may fluctuate or the low fuel warning light may come on earlier than usual due to the movement of fuel in the tank.
The outside temperature on the dis-play may not change immediately like a general thermometer to pre-vent the driver from being inattentive.
To change the temperature unit (from°C to °F or from °F to °C)
- Type A Cluster
Press the TRIP button for 5 seconds and more.
- Type B, C Cluster
The temperature unit can be changed by using the “User Settings” mode of the LCD Windows.
For more details, refer to LCD Windows in this chapter.

FAQs
In fact, the cluster has customization options that let drivers pick and choose which information to prioritize.
Depending on the model, you can usually access the display settings via the settings menu on the car or by pressing buttons on the dashboard or steering wheel.
Indeed, a lot of contemporary instrument clusters offer night modes or adaptive lighting for improved visibility when driving at night.
The infotainment screen typically displays the primary navigation details, although certain advanced clusters provide limited navigation information.
No, the instrument cluster doesn’t integrate smartphone apps; instead, it usually shows data specific to the vehicle.
The meanings and messages of individual warning lights can be found in the vehicle’s handbook. If the problem is serious, get in touch with a qualified technician right away.
To guarantee accurate calibration or resetting of the instrument cluster, it is recommended that you consult the vehicle manual or a qualified technician.
Anti glare features are typically built into cluster designs to ensure readability even in direct sunlight.
A professional scan tool is necessary for detailed diagnostics; the instrument cluster may show you some basic diagnostic information or notify you of a problem.
Certain models allow users to choose their preferred visual style by providing a choice of themes or designs for the cluster.
Because instrument clusters are made to be low-power and energy-efficient, they don’t really affect how long a vehicle’s battery lasts.
It may not always be feasible to upgrade the instrument cluster because of problems with integration and compatibility with the car’s systems. For such upgrades, it is best to speak with authorized dealers.
Maintaining the cluster’s functionality can be aided by keeping it clean and shielding it from harsh temperatures. Optimizing the cluster’s performance is ensured by routine vehicle maintenance.
Constructed using high-quality materials and cutting-edge technology, the Kia Forte 2021 Instrument Cluster provides accuracy and dependability when displaying vehicle information under typical driving circumstances.
