Kia Stinger 2023 ISG (Idle Stop and Go) System

The Idle Stop and Go (ISG) system in the 2023 Kia Stinger is a first-of-its-kind way to save fuel and care about the environment. It combines cutting-edge technology with a current driving experience. The ISG system was made to save fuel and cut pollution while the car is sitting still. This shows a commitment to sustainability without sacrificing speed. By turning off the engine when the car comes to a temporary stop and turning it back on quickly when the driver presses a button, the Stinger strikes a good mix between being good to the environment and being fun to drive. Drivers can turn off the ISG system by hand if they want to, and its ability to adapt to different driving conditions, from busy city streets to quiet highways, makes it an important part of Stinger’s commitment to efficiency, which helps the driver’s wallet and the environment.

ISG (Idle Stop and Go) system

Your vehicle may be equipped with the ISG system, which reduces fuel consumption by automatically shutting down the engine, when the vehicle is at a standstill. (For example: red light, stop sign and traffic jam)
The engine starts automatically as soon as the starting conditions are met.
The ISG system is ON whenever the engine is running.

NOTICE
When the engine automatically starts by the ISG system, some warning lights
(ABS, ESC, ESC OFF, MDPS or parking brake warning light) may turn on for a few seconds.
This happens because of low battery voltage. It does not mean the system has malfunctioned.

  • The driver’s seatbelt is fastened.
  •  The driver’s door and hood are closed.
  • The brake vacuum pressure is adequate.
  •  The battery sensor is activated and
    the battery is sufficiently charged.
  •  The outside temperature is not too low or too high.
  • The vehicle is driven at a constant speed and stops.
  •  The climate control system satisfies the conditions.

FAQ

What is the ISG system in the 2023 Kia Stinger?

The ISG system, or Idle Stop and Go system, is a feature that automatically turns off the engine when the vehicle comes to a stop and restarts it when the driver releases the brake pedal, helping to conserve fuel and reduce emissions during idle periods.

How does the ISG system work in the Kia Stinger?

The ISG system monitors various factors, including vehicle speed, brake pedal position, and other parameters, to determine when it is appropriate to shut off the engine. When conditions are met (e.g., the vehicle is stationary and the brake pedal is pressed), the engine is automatically turned off. When the driver releases the brake pedal, the engine restarts quickly.

Can you manually disable the ISG system?

Yes, many vehicles with ISG systems allow drivers to manually disable the feature if they prefer to keep the engine running at all times. There is typically a button or switch to enable or disable ISG.

What are the benefits of the ISG system?

The primary benefits of the ISG system are improved fuel efficiency and reduced emissions, especially during frequent stops in city traffic. It also contributes to a quieter cabin when the engine is off.

Does the ISG system affect the vehicle’s performance?

The ISG system is designed to have a minimal impact on vehicle performance. The engine restarts quickly, so there is typically no noticeable delay when accelerating from a stop.

Can you adjust the sensitivity or settings of the ISG system?

The ISG system’s sensitivity and settings can often be adjusted through the vehicle’s settings menu, allowing drivers to customize when the system activates.

Does the ISG system work in all driving conditions?

The ISG system is typically most effective in city driving conditions with frequent stops. It may not activate as frequently on the highway or in other situations where prolonged idling is less common.

Does the ISG system operate when the air conditioning is on?

The ISG system may continue to operate when the air conditioning is on, but it is designed to restart the engine if cabin comfort is compromised, such as when the interior temperature becomes too warm.

Does the ISG system have a limit to the number of engine restarts?

ISG systems are designed to handle numerous engine restarts without issue. There is typically no specified limit to the number of restarts.

Is there an indicator or warning if the ISG system is not functioning correctly?

The ISG system often includes a warning light on the dashboard to alert the driver if there is a malfunction that prevents the system from working properly.

Does the ISG system affect the battery or starter motor?

The ISG system is designed to minimize wear and tear on the battery and starter motor. It uses advanced technology to ensure smooth and reliable engine restarts.

Can the ISG system be retrofitted to older vehicles?

The ISG system is typically integrated into the vehicle’s design and cannot be easily retrofitted to older vehicles that were not originally equipped with it.

Does the ISG system work with both automatic and manual transmissions?

The ISG system is typically available with both automatic and manual transmissions, though its functionality may vary slightly depending on the transmission type.

Is the ISG system available on all trim levels of the 2023 Kia Stinger?

The availability of the ISG system may vary depending on the trim level and regional specifications of the 2023 Kia Stinger.

Can the ISG system be turned off permanently?

While you can often manually disable the ISG system, it is usually designed to reactivate each time you start the vehicle. Permanently disabling the system may require professional intervention or vehicle modifications.
