Introduction

  • Improved Traction: The AWD system improves traction by delivering power to multiple wheels at the same time, reducing the possibility of wheel slippage and improving acceleration.
  • Increased Stability: With power distributed to all four wheels, the Ghibli maintains better stability and control, especially when cornering or performing sudden maneuvers.
  • All-Weather Capability: The AWD system improves performance and confidence in a variety of weather conditions, including rain, snow, and slick surfaces.
  • Improved Handling and Agility: The AWD system improves handling and agility, allowing the Ghibli to navigate curves and corners with greater precision and stability.
  • Dynamic Power Distribution: The AWD system continuously monitors driving conditions and adjusts power distribution between the front and rear wheels in real time, resulting in optimal balance and responsiveness.

All-Wheel Drive (AWD version only)

The active on-demand All-Wheel Drive (AWD) system provides available optimum traction for a wide variety of road surface and driving conditions. The system minimizes wheel slip by automatically redirecting torque to the front and rear wheels as necessary.
To maximize fuel economy, the AWD system automatically disengages torque distribution on front axle when road and environmental conditions are such that wheel slip is unlikely to occur. When specific road and environmental conditions require increased levels
of road traction, the AWD system automatically distributes the torque between front and rear axle in order to grant the best driving experience. Torque distribution is displayed on the TFT in the “Drive Mode” main menu. Refer to “TFT Display: Menu and Submenu Content” in section “Dashboard Instruments and Controls” for further information.

WARNING!
There may be a slight delay for AWD engagement after a wheel slip condition occurs.

Maserati Ghibli 2023 All-Wheel Drive user manual 01 NOTE:
If the AWD system service warning message appears after engine start up, or during driving, it means that the AWD system is not functioning properly or is in recovery mode due to overheating caused by the excessive wheel spin. In this condition the vehicle can continue driving but only rear wheel drive is working. If the warning message is often activated, it is recommended to have the vehicle serviced at an Authorized Maserati Dealer.
