2020 Mazda CX-9 Fuses and Fuse Box | How to fix a blown fuse
The 2020 Mazda CX-9 comes with a fuse box that holds different fuses that are meant to protect the car’s electrical systems. The fuse box, which is usually in the engine area, is very important for keeping the car’s electrical parts safe from overloading or short circuiting. Each fuse controls a different electrical circuit, like the ones that power the windows, the music system, the lights, and more. If there is an electrical problem, a fuse will blow. This will stop the flow of electricity through the connection and protect the component. The amperage rating of the fuses used in the 2020 Mazda CX-9 may change. When a fuse blows, it’s important to replace it with a new one of the same amperage to protect the electrical system and avoid problems. You can find a diagram of where each fuse goes and what it does in the owner’s instructions or on the cover of the fuse box. This will make it easier to find and fix electrical problems when they happen. The electrical systems in your car will work better if you check and fix the fuses on a regular basis.

Fuses and Fuse Box
Fuses
Your vehicle’s electrical system is protected by fuses.
If any lights, accessories, or controls do not work, inspect the appropriate circuit protector. If a fuse has blown, the inside element will be melted.
If the same fuse blows again, avoid using that system and consult an Authorized Mazda Dealer as soon as possible.
Fuse Replacement
Replacing the fuses on the vehicle’s left side
If the electrical system does not work, first inspect the fuses on the vehicle’s left side.
- Make sure the ignition is switched off, and other switches are off.
- Open the fuse panel cover.
- Pull the fuse straight out with the fuse puller provided on the fuse block located in the engine compartment.
- Inspect the fuse and replace it if it is blown.
- Insert a new fuse of the same amperage rating, and make sure it fits tightly. If it does not fit tightly, have an expert install it. We recommend an Authorized Mazda Dealer.
If you have no spare fuses, borrow one of the same rating from a circuit not essential to vehicle operation, such as the AUDIO or OUTLET circuit
CAUTION
Always replace a fuse with a genuine Mazda fuse or equivalent of the same rating. Otherwise you may damage the electric system. - Reinstall the cover and make sure that it is securely installed.
Replacing the fuses under the hood
If the headlights or other electrical components do not work and the fuses in the cabin are normal, inspect the fuse block under the hood.
If a fuse is blown, it must be replaced. Follow these steps:
- Make sure the ignition is switched off, and other switches are off.
- Remove the fuse block cover.
- If any fuse but the MAIN fuse is blown, replace it with a new one of the same amperage rating.
WARNING
Do not replace the main fuse by yourself. Have an Authorized Mazda Dealer perform the replacement: Replacing the fuse by yourself is dangerous because the MAIN fuse is a high current fuse. Incorrect replacement could cause an electrical shock or a short circuit resulting in a fire. - Reinstall the cover and make sure that it is securely installed.

FAQs
The 2020 Mazda CX-9’s driver side engine compartment houses the fuse box.
Open the hood and find a rectangular black box with a removable cover to access the fuse box. Clips or screws secure the cover.
Blade fuses are standard for the CX-9. Fuse types and ratings are listed in your owner’s manual or fuse box lid.
Check if a fuse is blown by visually inspecting the wire inside for a break. You can also check continuity with a multimeter.
A fuse box cover or owner’s manual diagram shows each fuse’s placement and function. Usually labeled power windows fuse.
High-amperage primary fuses protect the electrical system. It normally sits near the battery.
Headlight fuses are usually labeled in fuse boxes. Check the fuse box cover diagram or owner’s handbook.
Replacing a fuse with a higher amp rating may impair electrical system safety. Use the fuse rating listed.
Turn off the car and unplug the battery if needed. Remove the fuse box cover, find the blown fuse, and replace it with a similar-rated fuse.
Fuse blowing instantly may indicate an electrical issue. Visit a Mazda dealership or mechanic for diagnosis.
Infotainment systems may feature specialized fuses. Check the fuse box diagram for location and rating.
Find the power mirror fuse on the fuse box schematic or cover. Label it clearly.
Fuse box diagrams are usually in the owner’s handbook or available on the Mazda website or trusted automobile forums.
Check the fuse box cover or owner’s manual for the cigarette lighter or power outlet fuse rating.
Mazda may place spare fuses in the fuse box or a separate compartment. Find spare fuses and their locations in your owner’s manual or fuse box.
