2021 McLaren GT Fuses and Fuse Box Guidelines
The McLaren GT 2021 is a remarkable supercar that combines performance and luxury exquisitely, and at the core of its electrical system is a component known as “Fuses and Fuse Box.” These unassuming parts play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and dependable operation of the electrical circuits in a vehicle. In this introduction, we will explore the world of fuses and the fuse box of the 2021 McLaren GT, casting light on their importance in protecting the vehicle’s complex electrical systems. The fuse box in the 2021 McLaren GT protects the numerous electrical functions of the vehicle. Within its compact enclosure, an array of fuses protects against electrical overloads and brief circuits that could disrupt vital systems. These fuses are strategically situated to protect a variety of components, from the lighting and entertainment systems to the engine control units and critical safety features.
Fuses
Fuse replacement
WARNING: Fuses protect the vehicle’s electrical systems. The failure of any fuse will render the system it protects inoperative.
Use replacement fuses of the same rating and type. Incorrect fuse ratings can overload a system and cause a fire or malfunction. Blown fuses should be replaced and no attempt should be made to repair a blown fuse.
NOTE: Before removing a fuse, turn off all electrical equipment and switch off the ignition.
There are three fuse boxes fitted to your McLaren.
Fuse Box | Location |
Main fuse box | Behind a panel in the rear bulkhead, behind the left-hand seat. |
Secondary fuse box | Below the dashboard on the passenger’s side. |
Battery fuse box | On top of the battery, in the luggage compartment, beneath the luggage compartment cover. |
Main Fuse Box
Main fuse box access
- To access the main fuse box:
- If a manual seat is fitted, lift the tilt release lever and tilt the left-hand seat backrest forwards
- If an electric seat is fitted, pull the release strap (shown above) and tilt the left-hand seat backrest forwards
- Release the two lower clips securing the panel to the bulkhead and remove the panel.
- Refer to the fuse specification to determine which fuse protects the non-functioning electrical system, see Main fuse box fuse specification chart, page 6.20.
NOTE: A label identifying the fuses is attached to the inside of the access panel.
Remove the appropriate fuse and replace it with a fuse of the same value as the original. If in doubt, check the fuse specification chart. - Fit the access panel by inserting the two upper retaining clips in the bulkhead and securing with the two lower clips.
NOTE: If a replacement fuse does not solve the electrical problem, or it fails immediately, contact your McLaren retailer.

What is the purpose of the fuse box in the 2021 McLaren GT?
The 2021 McLaren GT fuse box protects the vehicle’s electrical circuits from overloads and short circuits with fuses.
The fuse box in a McLaren GT is typically located in a convenient and accessible location, typically in the engine compartment or interior cabin.
Frequent indicators include inoperable electrical components, such as the lights, radio, or power windows, and a dashboard warning of a ruptured fuse.
Refer to the owner’s manual to locate the specific fuse, and then use fuse pullers or pliers to remove the blown fuse and replace it with a new fuse of the same amperage.
Refer to the owner’s manual to locate the specific fuse, and then use fuse pullers or pliers to remove the blown fuse and replace it with a new fuse of the same amperage.
No, using a fuse with a higher amperage can result in electrical damage and safety hazards. Always replace the fuse with the specified amperage.
Various systems, including lights, audio, safety features, and engine control units, are protected by fuses.
The fuse box ensures that the correct amount of power is distributed to each system, preventing overloading and potential damage
Some vehicles come equipped with spare fuses, but it is recommended to maintain spare fuses of various amperages in your toolkit.
Consult the owner’s manual, which typically contains a diagram of the fuse box and the associated components.
It is possible to install additional fuses for new accessories on a McLaren GT, but only a qualified technician should do so to assure safety and compliance with the electrical system.
Check the fuses frequently, especially if you experience electrical problems. It is recommended during routine maintenance.
If you frequently burst fuses, it indicates an underlying electrical problem, and you should have a McLaren technician inspect the vehicle.
To ensure safety and prevent electrical accidents, always disengage the vehicle’s battery before handling fuses.
Consult a qualified McLaren technician if you have specific performance or electrical requirements to explore potential solutions, as upgrading fuses is generally not recommended.
