The 2020 Mercedes-Benz A-Class Sedan’s multimedia system is an elegant fusion of modern technology, luxury, and convenience. This multimedia system, which was created to improve the driving experience, effortlessly combines entertainment, navigation, connectivity, and advanced functions, all of which are easily accessible to the driver and passengers. The system’s brain is a central touchscreen display with high resolution that acts as the command hub for managing multiple operations. With the help of a user-friendly, simple interface, tenants can easily access and manage a variety of features. The multimedia system offers a smart and immersive experience while modifying climate settings, using maps, or enjoying multimedia material. Information on connecting to the Internet

  1. Only operate this equipment when the traffic situation permits.
  2. If you cannot be sure of this, stop the vehicle whilst paying attention to road and traffic conditions and operate the equipment with the vehicle stationary.

You must observe the legal requirements for the country in which you are currently driving when operating the multimedia system.

Risk of an accident from operating mobile communication equipment while the vehicle is in motion
Mobile communications devices distract the driver from the traffic situation. This could also cause the driver to lose control of the vehicle.

  1. As the driver, only operate mobile communications devices when the vehicle is stationary.
  2. As a vehicle occupant, only use mobile communications devices in the areas intended for this purpose, e.g. in the rear passenger compartment.

You must observe the legal requirements for the country in which you are currently driving when operating mobile communication equipment in the vehicle.
The Internet functions can only be used to a limited degree whilst driving.

Function of the communication module
On vehicles with a built-in communication module, the Internet connection is established via an integrated SIM card.

To use Internet access via the communication module the following conditions must be met:

  1. Mercedes me connect is active and ready for operation.
  2. Mercedes me connect is activated for Inter‐ net access.
  3. In some countries: data volume via Mercedes me connect is available.

In some countries: if the data volume limit is reached, the availability of Mercedes me con‐nect services is limited. The data volume must be purchased via Mercedes me connect. Contact an authorized Mercedes-Benz Center to find out whether it is possible to pur‐chase data volume in your country.

Establishing an Internet connection 

  1. The multimedia system usually establishes the Internet connection automatically. If the multimedia system is not connected to the Internet, the Internet connection is established when an Internet application is used.
  2. The availability of the function is dependent on the country.

  2. Data storage media up to 2 TB are supported (32‑bit address space).
  3. Due to the large variety of available music and video files regarding encod‐ers, sampling rates and data transfer rates, playback cannot be guaranteed.
  4. Due to the wide range of USB devices available on the market, playback cannot be guaranteed for all USB devices.
  5. Videos up to FullHD (1920×1080) are supported.
  6. Copy-protected music and video files or DRM (Digital Rights Management) encrypted files cannot be played back.
  7. MP3 players must support Media Trans‐ fer Protocol (MTP).

Connecting the data storage medium to the multimedia system

The multimedia connection unit is found in the stowage compartment under the armrest and has two type C USB ports. Depending on the vehicle’s equipment, additional USB ports can be found in the stowage compartment of the center console or rear folding compartment.

  1. Connect the USB device to the USB port.
  2. USB hubs cannot be connected with the multimedia system.
  3. When connecting several Apple® devices simultaneously, pay attention to the order in which the devices are connected. The multi‐media system only connects with the device that is connected first. Additional Apple® devices that are connected at the same time are only supplied with power.

Searching for and authorizing a Bluetooth® audio device
Requirements:

  1. Bluetooth® is activated on the multimedia system and audio equipment.
  2. The audio equipment supports the Blue‐tooth® audio profiles A2DP and AVRCP.
  3. The audio equipment is “visible” for other devices.

Authorizing a new Bluetooth® audio device

  1. Select Connect New Device.
    Detected equipment is displayed in the device list.
  2. Select an audio device.
    Authorization starts. A code is displayed on the multimedia system and on the mobile phone.
  3. If the codes are identical, confirm on the audio equipment.
  4. Select Only as Bluetooth Audio Device.
    The Bluetooth® audio equipment is connec‐ted with the multimedia system.

Connecting previously authorized Bluetooth® audio equipment

  1. Select a Bluetooth® audio device from the list.
    The connection is established.

Controlling media playback

  1. To pause playback: select Mercedes-Benz A-CLASS SEDAN 2020 Multimedia System 12.
  2. To continue playback: select Mercedes-Benz A-CLASS SEDAN 2020 Multimedia System 13.
  3. To repeat a track: select Mercedes-Benz A-CLASS SEDAN 2020 Multimedia System 14.
    For the repeat function there are the following settings:

     

    1. Select once: the active playlist is repeated.
    2. Select twice: the current track is repeated.

Satellite radio restrictions
Satellite radio mode may be temporarily unavail‐able or interrupted for a variety of reasons. These include environmental or topographical conditions beyond the control of Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC. Thus, operation at certain locations may not be possible.

Registering satellite radio
Requirements:

  1. Satellite radio equipment is available.
  2. Registration with a satellite radio provider has been completed.
  3. If registration is not included when purchasing the system, your credit card details will be required to activate your account

Multimedia system:

  1. Select Service Information.
    The service information screen appears showing the radio ID and the current subscription status.
  2. Establish a telephone connection.
  3. Follow the service staff’s instructions.
    The activation process may take up to ten minutes.

Music and sport alerts function
This function enables you to program an alert for your favorite artists, tracks or sporting events. Music alerts can be saved whilst a track is being played and sport alerts can be saved during a live game. You can also specify sport alerts via the menu option. The system then continuously searches through all the channels. If a match is found with a stored alert, you will be informed.

  2. Select Artists or Song in the dialog window. The alert is set for the current artist or track. If a match is found, a prompt appears asking whether you wish to change to the station.

  2. Select the team name or league in the dialog window.

Deleting individual sports and music alerts

  1. Select Manage Music Alerts.

    All highlighted alerts are deleted.

Information about Smart Favorites and TuneStart
From the station presets you can set up to eight stations as Smart Favorites. Smart Favorites sta‐tions are automatically saved to temporary stor‐age in the background. If you change to a Smart Favorites station, you can replay, pause or actively skip forward or back to broadcasts which you have missed. If Tune Start is activated and you change to another Smart Favorites sta‐tion, the music track currently playing on the station is automatically restarted from the begin‐ning of the track.

Adding a channel to Smart Favorites
Multimedia system:

  1. Press and hold on the station logo until the Options menu appears.
  2. To add a channel: select Add to Smart Favorites in the menu.
  3. To remove a channel: select Delete from Smart Favorites in the menu.

In order to listen to seamless music, you can put together a TuneMix list from various stations.

  1. Select Create TuneMix List.
  2. If necessary, limit the number of stations shown using the Category entry.
  3. Select the station shown .
  4. Press Mercedes-Benz A-CLASS SEDAN 2020 Multimedia System 04to confirm.
  5. A TuneMix station logo is created in the radio menu.

Switching on satellite radio playback control Multimedia system:
You can pause the playback of the current station or skip forward or backward in the timeline. This leaves live mode to access the internal tem‐porary storage.
