Nissan FRONTIER 2023 Windows and Interior lights
Convenience and safety are enhanced by the 2023 Nissan Frontier’s cutting-edge window and interior lighting system. With choices for full, partial, or closed opening as well as a window lock feature for passenger control, the power windows are operated from the driver’s door. The automated door-activated interior light function and the ceiling-mounted light control switch are both used to turn on the inside lights. There are also reading map lights available, and a battery-saver function makes sure the lights don’t run out of power. The interior lighting system of the Frontier is user-friendly and versatile, making driving more enjoyable.

POWER WINDOWS
WARNING
- Make sure that all passengers have their hands, etc., inside the vehicle while it is in motion and before closing the windows. Use the window lock switch to prevent unexpected use of the power windows.
- To help avoid the risk of injury or death through the unintended operation of the vehicle and/or its systems, including entrapment in windows or inadvertent door lock activation, do not leave children, people who require the assistance of others, or pets unattended in your vehicle. Additionally, the temperature inside a closed vehicle on a warm day can quickly become high enough to cause a significant risk of injury or death to people and pets.
The power windows operate when the ignition switch is placed in the ON position or for a period of time after the ignition switch is placed in the ACC or OFF position. If the driver’s or passenger’s door is opened during this period of time, the power to the windows is canceled.

The driver’s side control panel is equipped with switches to open or close the front and rear passenger windows. To open a window, push the switch and hold it down. To close a window, pull the switch and hold it up. To stop the opening or closing function at any time, simply release the switch.
Front passenger’s power window
The passenger’s window switch operates only the corresponding passenger’s window. To open the window, push the switch and hold it down 1O. To close the window, pull the switch up 2O.
Rear power window switch (Crew Cab models only)
The rear power window switches open or close only the corresponding passenger window. To open the window, push the switch and hold it down 1O. To close the window, push the switch up 2O.
Locking passengers’ windows
When the window lock switch is depressed, only the driver’s side window can be opened or closed. Push it again to cancel the window lock function.
Automatic operation
To fully open a window equipped with automatic operation, push the window switch down to the second detent and release it; it need not be held. The window automatically opens all the way. To stop the window, lift the switch up while the window is opening.
REAR SLIDING WINDOW (if so equipped)
- You must ensure all occupants and objects are free of the rear window area prior to and during operation. Failure to do so may result in injury and/or damage to the rear window system.
- The rear window is not designed to carry long items through it.
- Do not place objects through the opened rear window. Do not use the rear window as a cargo area pass-through. This may result in damage to the rear window system or personal injury. Squeeze the handles of the lever 1O, then slide the window open 2O.
MOONROOF (if so equipped)
POWER MOONROOF
The moonroof will only operate when the ignition switch is in the ON position. The power moonroof is operational for about 45 seconds, even if the ignition switch is placed in the ACC or OFF position. If the driver’s door or the front passenger’s door is opened during this period of about 45 seconds, power to the moonroof is canceled.
Sliding the moonroof
To open the moonroof, push the switch toward DOWN/OPEN 1O and release it. Push the switch again to fully open the moonroof. To fully close the moonroof, push the switch toward UP/CLOSE 2O and release it. To open or close the moonroof part-way, push the switch in any direction while the moonroof is sliding to stop it in the desired position.
Tilting the moonroof
Close the moonroof by pushing the switch toward UP/CLOSE 2O. Release the switch, then push the UP/CLOSE switch again to tilt the moonroof up. To tilt the moonroof down, push the switch toward DOWN/OPEN 1O.
Auto-reverse function (when closing or tilting down the moonroof)
The auto-reverse function can be activated when the moonroof is closed or tilted down by automatic operation when the ignition switch is placed in the ON position or for a period of time after the ignition switch is placed in the OFF position. Depending on the environment or driving conditions, the auto-reverse function may be activated if an impact or load similar to something being caught in the moonroof occurs.
WARNING
There are some small distances immediately before the closed position which cannot be detected. Make sure that all passengers have their hands, etc., inside the vehicle before closing the moonroof.
When closing
If the control unit detects something caught in the moonroof as it moves to the front, the moonroof will immediately open backward.
When tilting down
If the control unit detects something caught in the moonroof as it tilts down, the moonroof will immediately tilt up. If the auto-reverse function malfunctions and repeats opening or tilting up the moonroof, keep pushing the tilt-down switch within 5 seconds after it happens; the moonroof will fully close gradually. Make sure nothing is caught in the moonroof.
WARNING
- In an accident, you could be thrown from the vehicle through an open moonroof. Always use seat belts and child restraints.
- Do not allow anyone to stand up or extend any portion of their body out of the moonroof opening while the vehicle is in motion or while the moonroof is closing.
CAUTION
- Remove water drops, snow, ice, or sand from the moonroof before opening.
- Do not place heavy objects on the moonroof or surrounding area.
Sunshade
Open and close the sunshade by sliding it forward or backward.
If the moonroof does not close
Have your moonroof checked and repaired. It is recommended that you visit a NISSAN dealer for this service.
INTERIOR LIGHTS
The interior light has a three-position switch and operates regardless of the ignition switch position. When the switch is in the ON position 1O, the interior lights illuminate, regardless of the door position. The lights will go off after a period of time unless the ignition switch is placed in the ON position. When the switch is in the DOOR or normal operation position 2O, the interior lights will stay on for a period of time, and the cargo.
light may illuminate when:
- The doors are unlocked by the key fob, a key, or the power door lock switch while all doors are closed and the ignition switch is in the OFF position.
- The driver’s door is opened and then closed while the ignition switch is placed in the OFF position.
- The ignition switch is placed in the OFF position while all doors are closed.
The lights will turn off while the timer is activated when:
- The driver’s door is locked by the key fob, a key, or the power door lock switch.
- The ignition switch is placed in the ON position.
When the switch is in the OFF position 3O, the interior lights do not illuminate, regardless of the door position. The cargo light may illuminate when any front or rear passenger door is opened. The lights will turn off automatically after a period of time while doors are open to prevent the battery from becoming discharged.
CAUTION
Do not use it for extended periods of time with the engine stopped. This could result in a discharged battery.
MAP LIGHTS
To turn the map lights on, press the lenses. To turn them off, press the lenses of the map lights again.

CARGO LIGHT
The cargo light on the overhead trim has a three-position switch. To operate, push the switch to the desired position.
ON: The light is illuminated.
DOOR: The light illuminates when the rear doors are opened. The light turns off when the rear doors are closed.
OFF: The light does not illuminate regardless of door position or lock status.
CAUTION
Do not use it for extended periods of time with the engine stopped. This could result in a discharged battery.
