So, let’s delve into the world of automotive innovation and sustainability as we explore the core components of the 2023 Renault Zoe’s powertrain.
LEVELS
Coolant
The level is checked with the engine switched off and on flat ground. The level when cold must be between the “MINI” and “MAXI” marks on the cool-ant reservoir 1.
Top this level up when cold before the “MINI” mark is reached.
Checking intervals
Check the coolant level regularly (very severe damage is likely to be caused to the engine if it runs out of coolant).
If the level needs to be topped up, only use products approved by our Technical Department which ensure:
Do not do any work under the bonnet when the vehicle is charging or when the ignition is switched on.
- Protection against freezing;
Anticorrosion protection of the cooling system.
Consult your approved dealer at once if you notice an abnormal or repeated drop in any of the fluid levels.
No operations should be carried out on the cooling circuit when the engine is hot.
Replacement intervals
Refer to the Maintenance Document for your vehicle.
When working in the engine compartment, ensure that the windscreen wiper stalk is in the park position.
Please note when working close to the engine that it may be hot. The engine cooling fan may also start at any moment. The label in the engine compartment reminds you of this.
Brake Fluid
The level should be read with the engine switched off and on level ground. This should be checked frequently, and immediately if you notice even the slightest loss in braking efficiency.
Consult your approved dealer at once if you notice an abnormal or repeated drop in any of the fluid levels.
Topping up
After any operation on the hydraulic circuit, a specialist must replace the fluid. Only use fluids approved by our Technical Department (and taken from a sealed container).
Replacement Intervals
Refer to the Maintenance Document for your vehicle.
Level 2
It is normal for the level to drop as the linings become worn, but it should never drop below the “MIN” warning line.
If you wish to check the disc wear your-self, you should obtain the document explaining the checking procedure from our network or from the manufacturer’s website.
When working in the engine compartment, certain parts may be hot. In addition, the engine cooling fan can come on at any moment.
Windscreen washer reservoir
Topping up
Open cap 3, fill until you can see the fluid, then refit the cap.
Liquid
Screen wash product (product with antifreeze in winter).
Jets
Use a tool such as a needle to adjust the height of the windscreen washer jets.
FAQs
A synthetic 0W-20 engine oil is typically used in the 2023 Renault Zoe.
Renault suggests changing the engine oil every year or every 18,000 miles, whichever occurs first.
For optimal performance and fuel economy, it is ideal to use the recommended synthetic 0W-20 oil.
The engine lubricant capacity of the Zoe is approximately 4.4 quarts (or 4.2 liters).
Park on a level surface, allow the engine to cool, and then examine the oil level using the dipstick.
Renault recommends a 50/50 composition of coolant based on ethylene glycol and distilled water.
Coolant should typically be replaced every three to five years, depending on the type of coolant used.
Distilled water is ideal for preventing mineral deposits and corrosion in the cooling system.
The Zoe utilizes a specialized automatic transmission fluid (ATF) that should be changed according to the manufacturer’s guidelines.
Transmission fluid should be changed anywhere between 30,000 and 60,000 miles, or as specified in the owner’s manual.
Renault typically suggests DOT 4 brake fluid.
Typically, brake fluid should be replaced every two years, but check your owner’s manual for specific instructions.
The Zoe utilizes synthetic power steering fluid, which should be inspected and topped off as necessary.
Inspect the fluid level frequently, and if it is low, add the recommended fluid.
While some fluid tests can be performed by the owner, it is recommended to have oil changes and transmission fluid replacements performed by a certified Renault service center to ensure proper maintenance and warranty compliance.
