  • Before driving
    Make sure that all doors are prop-erly closed and locked. If the slid-ing doors are not fully closed, it may open unexpectedly while driving and an occupant to fall out of the vehicle, resulting in death or serious injury.
  • Caution while driving
    Observe the following precautions while driving. Failure to do so may cause a door to open unexpect-edly and an occupant to fall out of the vehicle, resulting in death or serious injury.
    • Make sure that all doors are properly closed and locked.
    • Set the sliding door child-pro-tector locks when children are seated in the vehicle.
    • Do not operate the inside han-dle of the doors while driving.
  • When children are in the vehi-cle
    Observe the following precau-tions. Failure to do so may result in death or serious injury.
    • Do not leave children alone in the vehicle. If a child is acciden-tally locked in the vehicle, they could have heat exhaustion or other injuries.
    • Do not allow a child to open or close the sliding door. Doing so may cause the sliding door to move unexpectedly, or cause the child’s hands, head, or neck to be caught by the moving slid-ing door.
  • Operating the sliding doors
    Observe the following precau-tions. Failure to do so may cause parts of the body to be caught, resulting in death or serious injury.
    • When opening or closing a slid-ing door, thoroughly check to make sure the surrounding area is safe.
    • When opening or closing the sliding doors with windows open, keep all body parts clear of the windows.
    • If anyone is in the vicinity, make sure they are safe and let them know that the sliding door is about to open or close.
    • Do not leave the sliding door at half-opened position because the sliding door is not latched at this position. The sliding door may move unexpectedly on an incline.
    • When the vehicle is stopped on a slope, the door will slide faster when opening or closing, so be especially careful that the pas-sengers do not get hit or pinched by the door.

WARNING

  • Open the sliding door fully while passengers are getting on or off on a downward slope. Do not operate the outside handle or inside handle while the door is open as the door could sud-denly close by itself causing injury.
  • When opening or closing the sliding door, take extra care to prevent your fingers etc. from being caught.
  • Do not put your hands or feet on the sliding door arms, rails and pillars. Be careful not to get your hands or feet caught in the slid-ing doors.

Unlocking and locking the sliding door from the outside

  • Using the entry function (if equipped)

Unlocking and locking the sliding door from the inside

  • Using the door lock switches

Opening/closing the slid-ing door automatically

  • Using wireless remote con-trol
    • Vehicles with power back door
      • Press and hold to open and close the right side power sliding door
      • Press and hold to open and close the left side power slid-ing door
  • Unlock the sliding door before oper-ating.
    • Vehicles without power back door
      • Press and hold to open and close the right side power sliding door
      • Press and hold to open and close the left side power slid-ing door
  • Unlock the sliding door before oper-ating.
    • Using the outside sliding door handles
      1. Press the switch to open/close the power sliding door.
        When the sliding door is locked: Press the switch while carrying the electronic key on your person. Then, all the doors will unlock and the power sliding door will be auto-matically and completely opened. Press the switch within detection area of the electronic key. P.165) When the sliding door is unlocked: After pressing the switch even with-out the electronic key carried on your person, the power sliding door will be automatically and com-pletely opened.
      2. Pull the sliding door handle to open/close the power sliding door. Unlock the sliding door before operating.
        Pressing the switch or pulling the handle while the power sliding door is operating will cause the opera-tion to stop. Pressing the switch or pulling the handle again will cause the power sliding door to reverse its operation direction.
    • Using the inside door han-dles
      When the handle is operated, the power sliding door will be automatically and completely opened/closed. Operating the handle while the power sliding door is operating will cause the operation to stop.
      1. Open
        Unlock the sliding door before oper-ating.
      2. Close
    • Using the power sliding door switches
      Press and hold the switch to open and close each sliding door.
    • From front seats
      • Opens the left side power sliding door.
      • Closes the left side power sliding door.
      • Opens the right side power sliding door.
      • Closes the right side power sliding door.
        Pressing the switch again while the power sliding door is operat-ing will cause the operation to stop.
      • From second seats
        Pressing the switch again while the power sliding door is operating will cause the operation to stop.
  • Using the kick sensor (vehi-cles with Hands Free Power Sliding Doors)
    The Hands Free Power Sliding Door enables automatic opening and closing of the power sliding door by putting your foot under the portion with a label on the rocker moulding and moving it away from the rocker moulding. When operating the Hands Free Power Sliding Door, make sure that the front door (the same side of the sliding door you open) is closed, the kick sensor operation is enabled (P.112) and you are carrying an elec-tronic key.
    1. While carrying an electronic key, stand within the smart key system operation range, approximately 11.8 to 19.7 in. (30 to 50 cm) from the rocker moulding.

    2. Perform a kick operation by moving your foot to within approximately 3.9 in. (10 cm) of the rocker moulding and then pulling it back.
      Perform the entire kick operation within approximately 1 second. The sliding door will not start oper-ating while a foot is detected under the rocker moulding. Operate the Hands Free Power Sliding Door without contacting the rocker moulding with your foot. If another electronic key is in the cabin or luggage compartment, it may take slightly longer than nor-mal for the operation to occur.

    3. When the kick sensor detects that your foot is pulled back, a buzzer will sound and the sliding door will automati-cally fully open/close.
      If a foot is moved under the rocker moulding while the sliding door is opening/closing, the sliding door will stop moving. If a foot is moved under the rocker moulding again during the halted operation, the sliding door will per-form the reverse operation.

Sliding door child-protec-tor locks
The sliding door cannot be opened by the inside door han-dle and the second seat sliding door switch when the lock is set.

    These locks can be set to prevent children from opening the sliding doors. Push down on each sliding door switch to lock that sliding door.
  • The power sliding door can be operated when
    • Open operation: The shift lever is in P or the vehicle speed is below 1.9 mph (3 km/h).
    • The power sliding door system is enabled.
    • The power sliding door is unlocked. (Except for the wireless remote control operation or smart key system operation.)
    • The sliding door child-protector lock is not set. (However, the switch for the front occupants and the outside handle still operate the power sliding door.)
  • Power sliding doors
    • The power sliding doors can be opened/closed manually when the power sliding door function is can-celed with the main switch.
    • If the sensor detects jamming of a person or an object while the power sliding door is automatically opening/closing, a buzzer will beep and the power sliding door will stop after reversing approxi-mately 3.9 in. (10 cm). When the power sliding door is operated again after the stop, the door will be operated as follows.

To operate the door reversely:

  • Pull the outside door handle, or press the switch of the sliding door handle or using the kick sensor.

To operate the door in open direc-tion:

  • Pull the inside door handle in open direction, or press the “OPEN” side of the power sliding door switch.

To operate the door in close direc-tion:

  • Pull the inside door handle in close direction or press the “CLOSE” side of the power sliding door switch.
    After the jam protection function operates, the power sliding door cannot be operated even if the switch to open and close the sliding door on the electronic key is pressed.

The situations in which the slid-ing door does not open com-pletely
The left side sliding door does not open completely when the fuel filler door is opened.
