2022 Vauxhall Astra L Owner’s Manual

The 2022 Vauxhall Astra L was the start of a new era for the Astra series, with a big redesign and new technology for the popular compact car line. Based on the success of the Astra K, the Astra L had a more modern and aggressive look on the outside, which fit with Vauxhall’s changing design theory. Under the hood of the 2022 model, there was a wide range of engine choices, including more fuel-efficient and environmentally friendly ones like hybrids. Inside, passengers were met by a modernized interior with a new infotainment system that included Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for easy connectivity. Safety was also of the utmost importance, so the 2022 Astra L came with better driver aid systems to make driving safer and easier. The 2022 Vauxhall Astra L tried to strengthen its place in the highly competitive compact car market by combining design, technology, performance, and value.

Head restraints

Position

Warning
Only drive with the head restraint set to the proper position.

The upper edge of the head restraint should be at upper head level. If this is not possible for extremely tall people, set to highest position, and set to lowest position for small people.

Adjustment

Head restraints on front seats
Pull the head restraint upwards or press the catch to release and push the head restraint downwards.

Press the catch and move the head restraint upwards, downwards, forwards or backwards until the desired position is adjusted.

Head restraints on rear seats
Pull the head restraint upwards or press the catch to release and push the head restraint downwards. Removal
Press catch, pull the respective head restraint upwards and remove.

Front seats

Seat position

Warning
Only drive with the seat correctly adjusted.

Warning
Never adjust seats while driving as they could move uncontrollably.

Danger
Do not sit closer than 25 cm to the steering wheel, to permit safe airbag deployment.

Warning
Never store any objects under the seats.

• Sit with buttocks as far back against the backrest as possible. Adjust the distance between the seat and the pedals so that legs are slightly angled when pressing the pedals. Slide the front passenger seat as far back as possible.
•  Set seat height high enough to have a clear field of vision on all sides and of all display instruments. There should be at least one hand of clearance between head and the roof frame. Your thighs should rest lightly on the seat without pressing into it.
• Adjust the head restraint so that its upper edge is at upper head level.
• Sit with shoulders as far back against the backrest as possible. Set the backrest rake so that it is possible to easily reach the steering wheel with arms slightly bent. Maintain contact between shoulders and the backrest when turning the steering wheel. Do not angle the backrest too far back. We recommend a maximum rake of approx. 25°. Adjust seat and steering wheel in a way that the wrist rests on top of the steering wheel while the arm is fully extended and shoulders are on the backrest.
• Adjust the lumbar support so that it supports the natural shape of the spine.

Manual seat adjustment
Drive only with engaged seats and backrests.

Longitudinal adjustment
Pull handle, slide seat, release handle. Try to move the seat back and forth to ensure that the seat is locked in place.

Backrest inclination
Turn handwheel. Do not lean on backrest when adjusting.

Seat height
Lever pumping motion

• up: seat higher
• down: seat lower

Lumbar support
Adjust lumbar support using the four-way switch to suit personal requirements. Press and hold the front or rear of the switch to increase or decrease the lumbar support. Press and hold the top or bottom of the switch to raise or lower the lumbar support.

Thigh support
Pull the lever and slide the thigh support. Power seat adjustment

Warning
Care must be taken when operating the power seats. There is a risk of injury, particularly for children. Objects could become trapped. Keep a close watch on the seats when adjusting them. Vehicle passengers should be informed accordingly.

Longitudinal adjustment
Move switch forwards / backwards.

Backrest inclination
Tilt switch forwards / backwards.

Seat height and angle
Tilt the rear of the switch upwards /downwards to adjust the height. Tilt the front of the switch upwards /downwards to adjust the angle. Lumbar support
Adjust lumbar support using the four-way switch to suit personal requirements. Press and hold the front or rear of the switch to increase or decrease the lumbar support. Press and hold the top or bottom of the switch to raise or lower the lumbar support.

Thigh support
Press and hold the front or rear of the button to raise or lower the thigh support. Memory function for power seat adjustment and exterior mirrors Two different driver’s seat and exterior mirror settings can be stored. Vehicle personalisation 3 91.

Storing memory position

• Adjust driver’s seat and then adjust exterior mirrors to desired positions.
• Press M and then press 1 or 2 within four seconds. A chime sounds to confirm the storing.

Recall of memory positions
Press 1 or 2 to recall the corresponding position. A chime sounds when recalling has been finished. Recalling can be interrupted by pressing M, 1 or 2 or by using one of the seat adjustment controls. A stored position cannot be recalled while driving. The recalling of stored positions is deactivated 45 seconds after the ignition has been switched off.

Armrest

Heating
Adjust the heating to the desired intensity by pressing s for the respective seat one or more times. The control indicator in the button indicates the selected intensity. Prolonged use of the highest intensity for people with sensitive skin is not recommended. The settings are memorised when the ignition is switched off. The heating can also be adjusted in the seat options app in the Info Display. Touch ) on the screen to activate or deactivate seat heating. Adjust the heating to the desired intensity by touching the control indicator on the screen. The driver seat and the passenger seat can be adjusted independently.

Ventilating
Adjust the ventilation to the desired intensity by pressing y for the respective seat one or more times. The control indicator in the button indicates the selected intensity. The settings are memorised when the ignition is switched off. The ventilation can also be adjusted in the seat options app in the Info Display. Touch ) to activate or deactivate the ventilation. Adjust the ventilation to the desired intensity by touching the control indicator on the screen. The driver seat and the passenger seat can be adjusted independently.

Massage
A massage can be activated or deactivated via the seat options app in the Info Display. Touch ) to activate or deactivate a massage. Different types of massages can be selected by swiping on the screen. The massages for the driver seat and the passenger seat can be selected independently. After selecting the type of massage, the intensity can be selected:

• 1: low
• 2: normal
• 3: high

The massage function is activated for a period of one hour. During this time, the massage is performed in sequences of six minutes of massage followed by three minutes at rest. The settings are memorised when the ignition is switched off.

Rear seats

Heating
The heating can be adjusted by turning the thumb wheels in the centre console. Prolonged use of the highest intensity for people with sensitive skin is not recommended. The settings are memorised when the ignition is switched off.

Seat belts
The seat belts are locked during heavy acceleration or deceleration of the vehicle, holding the occupants in the seat position. Therefore the risk of injury is considerably reduced. Seat belts are designed to be used by only one person at a time. Child restraint system 3 46. Periodically check all parts of the belt system for damage, soiling and proper functionality. Have damaged components replaced. After an accident, have the seat belts and triggered belt pretensioners replaced by a workshop.

Notice
Make sure that the belts are not damaged by shoes or sharp-edged objects or are trapped. Prevent dirt from getting into the belt retractors.

Notice
Use the belt buckle intended for the respective seat belt when fastening in order to ensure proper functionality.

Seat belt reminder
Each seat is equipped with a seat belt reminder, indicated by a control indicator a for the respective seat in the roof console 3 79.

Belt force limiters
Stress on the body is reduced by the gradual release of the belt during a collision.

Belt pretensioners
In the event of a head-on, rear-end or side-on collision of a certain severity, the front seat belts and the outer rear seat belts are tightened.

Warning
Incorrect handling (e.g. removal or fitting of belts) can trigger the belt pretensioners.

Deployment of the belt pretensioners is indicated by continuous illumination of control indicator d 3 80. Triggered belt pretensioners must be replaced by a workshop. Belt pretensioners can only be triggered once.

Notice
Do not affix or install accessories or other objects that may interfere with the operation of the belt pretensioners. Do not make any modifications to belt pretensioner components as this will invalidate the operating permit of your vehicle.

Fasten
Withdraw the belt from the retractor, guide it untwisted across the body and insert the latch plate into the buckle. Make sure the belt fits tightly to the body while driving. Loose or bulky clothing prevents the belt from fitting snugly. Do not place objects such as handbags or mobile phones between the belt and your body.
